Elijah Sparks “Sparky” Foster, Jr.

Mr. Elijah Sparks “Sparky” Foster, Jr., 92 of Zwolle, Louisiana was received in to Heaven on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Winnfield, Louisiana.

Born Thursday, October 17, 1929 in Ruston, Louisiana, he was the son of the late E. S. Foster, Sr. and Elizabeth Pyburn Foster. He met and married the love of his life, Gwen McDonald

Foster whom he was married to for 67 years. Mr. Sparky spent his working career in the education field and served as coach at Jonesboro Hodge, and various other schools. He retired from Louisiana Tech University as Vice President of Student Affairs. He was an avid outdoorsman and very much enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents E. S. and Elizabeth Pyburn Foster; siblings, Nadine Foster, Miriam Foster Drummond, Nedra Foster Parry, Patricia (Pat) Foster White, and Cornelius “Neal” Foster.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2022, in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield, Louisiana, with Minister Gabe Bruyere officiating.

Glynda was born in Winnfield, Louisiana, and graduated from Winnfield Senior High School in 1982. She graduated with honors from University of Louisiana Monroe with a Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy, in 1987. A dedicated, compassionate professional, she had over three decades of experience in hospital, retail, and health maintenance organization settings. Lamar Hutto

Mr. Lamar Hutto, age 87 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Born Monday, April 22, 1935 in Dodson, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Martin Hutto and Benjamin Lane Hutto; brothers, Cecil Waylon Hutto, James Hutto, Charles Hutto, and William E. “Bill” Hutto, and sister, Eva Hutto Riser. Mr. Hutto raised horses and grew orchids with his wife Gloria. He was a member of the Louisiana Orchid Society. He was involved with the forestry community statewide. Mr. Hutto was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Sue Frances White

 Sue Frances White, age 87, passed away peacefully on August 22 in Baton Rouge following a long and difficult illness. She was a native of Georgetown, LA, and a graduate of Georgetown High School, Class of 1955.
She received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe in 1963 (now University of Louisiana Monroe). Miss White was a longtime resident of New Iberia and a retired teacher from Iberia Parish School Board. For the past twelve years she has lived in Baton Rouge. Funeral services were held at Zion Baptist Church, 4000 Hwy 472, Georgetown, on Saturday, August 27 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Don Wright conducting the service.

Harold Aston

Harold Aston Mr. Harold Aston was born May 16, 1934, and crossed the Golden Bridge into Heaven on August 10, 2022, at the young age of 88. He was born in Lockney, Texas and was the only child of Othel Cockerham & A. C. Aston. His final hours were spent surrounded by family.

This man never met a stranger and all those that crossed his path were made to feel like a friend as well as family. He had an infectious sense of humor, often lacked any filters, and was often referred to as a “hot mess”. In 1953, he married the love of his life, Claudine Burk, and they went on to have 2 daughters, LaWanda and Nancy. Their family was completed when grandchild, Theresa came along.

Thomas “Tommy” Lynn Jones

Thomas “Tommy” Lynn Jones, 82, passed away peacefully and with love surrounding him after a brief battle with cancer on August 1, 2022, at his home in Thibodaux, LA. Thomas was born to Earl Thomas and Cleo Temple Jones on February 18, 1940, in Jonesboro, Louisiana and grew up in Winn Parish, Louisiana.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Elna Hardee Jones, his two daughters, also known as the “Jones Girls,” Deanie Jones Soignier (Dr. Rodney Denis) and Elna Clair Jones Boudreaux (Greg “Bud”), three grandchildren who made him very proud, Mark Denis Soignier, Blake Allen Boudreaux and Virginia Claire Soignier, one sister, Lynda Jones Favret Boyce (Terry) of Mandeville, Louisiana and one brother, Gary Allen Jones of Alabama. He is also survived by three nieces, Stacey Jones, Amanda Rose Jones and Hallie Jones, and two nephews, Allex Poole and Allan Poole.

James L. Carter, Sr., 82 of Converse Louisiana died August 6,2022. Mr. Carter was born May 31st, 1940 in Atlanta, Louisiana to Bo and Blanche (Lovett) Carter.

He is survived by his sister, Sharon Yannarella and husband Tom; brother-inlaw, Thomas Gresham; daughter, Cindy Tingle and husband Virgil; son, Jimmy Carter and wife Terri; son, Richy Carter and wife Susan; son, Scott Carter; son Jamie Carter; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in

death by his wife, Mary Carter; his father Bo Carter; his mother, Blanche Carter; sister, Betty Herrman and sister, Jo Gresham.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Sardis Cemetery in Atlanta, LA with Jason Johnston and Jared Vincent officiating.

Charles Price Tomlinson

Charles Price Tomlinson Tomlinson of Austin TX, Rebecca Tomlinson of Key West FL, Patty and Bart Thomas of Lake Charles LA, James Tomlinson of Lake Orion MI, and Vicki Castagna in Boulder CO. Charles, along with Joy, his wife and partner-in-adventure, resided with Vicki in the mountains of Colorado.

Family and friends were invited to attend his Celebration of Life service at the Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield Saturday, July 30. Visitation began at noon on Saturday with the service at 2pm in the Chapel of the Southern Funeral Home with the interment following at Garden of Memories.
