Fred W. Davis

Fred W. Davis, 82, died June 27, 2018. He was born November 20, 1935 in Rison, Arkansas, the son of Willie B. and Rosie Davis. He was a supervisor for Louisiana Pacific and retired after 50 years of service. He loved fishing and he loved people. He would honor any favor asked of him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ellis J. Davis, son Wayne Hatchett and daughter Diane Coleman. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Annette Davis, daughters Freddie Mae Cowians and Rosemary Davis, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. A wake was held July 2, 2018 at Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home, followed by the burial July 3, 2018 at Johnson Memorial Cemetery in Hamburg, Arkansas. The family wishes to thank the Winn Parish Medical Center ER staff, Wren Quarter neighbors, Burks Temple CME Church and the many friends co-workers and family for all their prayers, calls and visits during our time of loss.

Winona Dubois

Winona Dubois passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She will be missed by her three daughters, Naomi Shirley (Larry), Wanda Allen, Doretha Severino (Larry) and her son, Jerry Dubois (Connie). Winona also had a sister, Mary Lou Carpenter. She was the proud grandmother of forty grandchildren. (Eight grandchildren, twenty eight great grand-children, and four great great grandchildren). She also had numerous nieces and nephews. She and her husband Raymond and children resided in Winnfield many years before moving to Houston, Texas. Service was held on Saturday, June 30, at the Dalton & Son Funeral Home. Interment was at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. May she rest and be remembered in peace.

Alton Asa Allen

Mr. Alton Asa Allen, age 86 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018. Mr. Allen was born Monday, December 14, 1931 in Winnfield, Louisiana to the union of D. C. Allen and Mary Weir Allen Jenkins. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Frankie Allen Dickerson; brother, D.C. Allen, Jr.; and nephew, Jonathan Allen. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served his country as a paratrooper during the Korean War. Mr. Allen attended LSU and was a member of the boxing team and later went on to win the Golden Gloves Championship. Mr. Allen had a photography bui- ness in Hawaii for many years, and was also a tour guide in Los Angeles, CA before retiring home to Winnfield. Those left to cherish his memory include his sister-in-law, Elsie D.

Alice Florene Keen

Mrs. Alice Florene Keen, age 82 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018. Born Monday, April 6, 1936 in Sikes, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Edna Truitt McDow; husband, Gene Everett Keen; Infant Son; Infant Daughter; and brother, Norman Joe McDow. Mrs. Keen was a lifetime member of United Baptist Church where she was a charter member and Sunday School Teacher. She was a member and past president of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Keen served as a Justice of the Peace and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Home Demonstration Club.

Lenard Leroy Henderson

Lenard Leroy Henderson, 79 of Georgetown, Louisiana passed from this life on Friday, June 22, 2018 at his residence in Georgetown, Louisiana. He was born Friday, July 29, 1938 in Selma, Louisiana to the union of Dodd and Hattie (Armstrong) Henderson. He was a graduate of Georgetown High School and was a member of Tullos First Baptist. Leroy started working in the oil industry for Justiss Mears Oil Company and later worked for Hunt Petroleum, where he retired after numerous years. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Verlene Henderson of Georgetown. One son Leonard R. Henderson & wife, Patty, of Georgetown, LA, a daughter, Darlene Lindgren, & husband, Wade, of Hibbing, MN. Two granddaughters, Stephanie Henry, & husband Hugh, Tessa Myrick & husband Daniel, two grandsons, Stephen Williams, and Derrick Henderson.

Funeral services for Jesse Hamilton Dauzat were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Living Word Church in Minden, Louisiana with Pastor Andrew Maddox, Pastor Trey Waller, and Bro. Brian Montgomery officiating and special speaker Jamie Dauzat. Interment followed at Old Sparta Cemetery in Jamestown, Louisiana. Jesse was born May 14, 1982 in Rapides Parish and entered into rest June 16, 2018 in West Monroe, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his son, Alden Garland. He is survived by his wife, Bridgette Dauzat, son, Lyndon Garland, daughters, Hannah Dauzat and Hailey Worsham, mother, Regina Randall and husband Eddie, father, Leslie Dauzat and wife Lynn, mother and father in-law, Betty and Ronald Hughes, sisters, Jessica Dauzat and fiancé Wayne Gaubert, Wendy Randall, and Shera Finney, brothers, Leslie (Bubba Dauzat, Jr.

Mr. Jay Baxley, age 51 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018. Born Sunday, October 2, 1966 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Olivia Baxley; parents, Earnest James Baxley, Sr. and Carolyn Crooks Baxley; fiancé, Nikki Wilkerson; sister, Kristy Avant (Terry); nieces and nephews, Kalyn and Karly Avant and Bradley and Christopher Miller and well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Winnfield with Rev. Steven Smithson, Rev. Lamar Carpenter and Rev. John Holland officiating. Interment followed in Garden of Memories in Winnfield.

James Ernest Shows

After a long illness, James Ernest Shows, age 80 of Atlanta, Louisiana passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 at his residence with his family at his side. Mr. Shows retired from Moreau Construction Co. where he worked until he was no longer physically able. He was a hard worker and even after a full day’s work as a carpenter still returned home to work on his farm. He started farming as a young boy plowing the fields before school. He enjoyed provid- ing fresh vegetables for his family and others. He grew sugar cane to make his own syrup. He also had a real passion for fishing, but he will always be remembered for giving everyone nicknames. Mr. Shows is the son of the late Albert Ernest Shows and the late Emma Lee Franklin Shows. He was also preceded in death by a son James Dalton Shows, and a sister Dorothy Lee Shows Hines.

Funeral services for Loleta Ann Kees May of Grayson, Louisiana£ were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Grayson Baptist Church, Grayson with Bro. Rick Crandall officiating. Burial followed at Georgetown Cemetery, Georgetown, Louisiana under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. Loleta Ann Kees May was born July 2, 1943 in Winnfield, Louisiana£ to the union of her parents, O’Neal Kirkland Kees and Dorothy Cornelia Riggs Kees and she passed from this life on June 7, 2018 at Ochsner’s Medical Center in New Orleans£after a brief illness. Leta was raised in Georgetown£and was Valedictorian of the 1961 graduating class of Georgetown High School.£She attended and graduated from LSU with a degree in Home Economics. After graduation£Leta moved to Texas to take a job with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service.£While she always declared she would never be a school teacher, like her mother and grandmother,£it seemed life had a different plan.

Mrs. Leigh Hurl Jutzi Jordan, age 92 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. She was born Tuesday, March 23, 1926 in Rochelle, Louisiana and was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield. Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Ella Nugent Jutzi; husband, Arnold Jordan, Sr.; son, Arnold Jordan, Jr.; sister, Alma Jean Smith. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Ronnie Lee Jordan, Mitchell Lynn Jordan and Ellen Jo Jordan; grandchildren, Joey Jordan, Angela Davis, Tammy Bento, Stephanie Shuff, Sonya Cornett, Mitchell Lynn Jordan, II, Brooklyn Noel Johnson and Nikki Lawson; 19 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. John Holland officiating. Interment followed in Garden of Memories, in Winnfield.
