Larry Wayne Durbin

Larry Wayne Durbin, age 68, of Hollister, Missouri passed away December 1, 2018. He entered this world July 22, 1950, in Winnfield, Louisiana, the son of JB and Martha Ruth (Walters) Durbin. He was joined in marriage June 26, 2001 to Julie Morgan. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

Larry proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. He was quite the character and kept people laughing when he was around. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, mowing the lawn, working in the vegetable garden, being with his “buddy” Conner, and watching Gunsmoke. He was a hardworking man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; a set of twins at birth; grandson, Timmy Corzine Jr.; and his grandparents.

James Leonidas “J.L.” Hinckley, Sr.

James Leonidas “J.L.” Hinckley, Sr., age 92 of Vick, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, December 09, 2018. Born Friday, October 01, 1926 in Jena, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Florence Smith Hinckley and James Cotton Hinckley; sister, Olga DeTogne; and wife, Bobbie McNeal Hinckley.

Mr. Hinckley served his country in the U.S Army in the Pacific Theater and the Occupation of Japan during World War II.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, James L. Hinckley, Jr., Dodson, LA; daughter, Janice Hinckley Stroud, Monroe, LA; son, Justin C. Hinckley, Ruston, LA; granddaughter, Jennifer Hinckley Vidrine, and great grandchildren, Samuel, Sylvia and Marcie Vidrine,

Graveside services were held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 with Rev. Bill Strawbridge officiating at Vick Baptist Cemetery in Vick, LA under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Thomas Hull Ferrell

Thomas Hull Ferrell, Ph.D., ULL Retired Professor of Political Science, died at his residence, Thursday, December 13, 2018. He was 76 years old. Tom, as he was known to friends and relatives, was born in Winnfield LA in 1942. He graduated from Northeast Louisiana State University, now the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and continued his education at Louisiana State University where he received both a masters and doctorate in Political Science. He spent his career at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the Department of Political Science where he served as Head of the Department. In addition to his research accomplishments, he was recognized by the university as an outstanding student advisor and guided many Acadiana attorneys in their undergraduate preparation for law school.

Martha Ann Stone

Mrs. Martha Ann Stone, age 78 of Sikes, Louisiana passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018.

Born Friday, March 1, 1940 in Winnfield, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Grace Mizell Warner and Henry Hardy Warner, Sr.; husband, Lee Stone, Sr.; brothers, J. B. McCain and Henry H. “Jr.” Warner; and children, Michael L. Bishop and Tony L. Bishop.

Mrs. Stone worked, formerly, for Winn Council on the Aging and currently a housekeeper. She was a faithful reader of God’s Word, which she lived daily in her life. Mrs. Stone attended Jordan Hill United Pentecostal Church for many years, and more recently attended The Family Church of Winnfield. She loved helping others and will be remembered for her gentleness, as she never met a stranger. Mrs. Stone always had a hug and a kiss for everyone. She loved her plants and gardening, but more than anything she loved spending time with her family, whom she prayed for daily.

Lewis Howell

Graveside services for Lewis Howell, 90, were held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Crowville Masonic Cemetery, with Rev. Ron Charrier officiating. Burial followed in Crowville Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of Young’s Community Memorial Funeral Home-Winnsboro, LA.

Lewis, worked for Exxon Mobil for 32 years, was born on June 18, 1928 in Franklin Parish, LA, He was a Faithfull servant of God and in his younger days loved to fish and hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Alma Howell; two brothers, Robert and J.W. Howell.

Survivors left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Doris Fay Howell of Sikes, LA; daughter, Pam Cordray and her husband Dennis of Wimberly, TX; two granddaughters, Karia Usemoto and her husband Todd of Los Angeles, CA, and Kristy Cordray of Wimberly, TX

Dr. Charles O. Rolen – Age 89 of Franklin, TN. December 2, 2018. Preceded in death by his wife, Virginia L. Rolen; son, Timothy Rolen; brothers, Joe Rolen, Jr., James “Dub” Rolen & Howell Rolen; & sisters, Alene Coon, Ella Parker & Orelle Parker.

Survived by sons, Charles “Chuck” Rolen, Jonathan “Jon” Rolen, Philip L. Rolen & Joel A. Rolen; grandchildren, Sonya M. Mayurick, Christina L. Anders, Andrew P. Rolen & Matthew D. Funeral services were conducted Friday, December 7, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, HICKORY CHAPEL, 5852 Nolensville Road, by Beverly Robbins. Mrs. Sandra Sue Northcutt James, age 61 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018. Mrs. James was an avid gardener and a great cook. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and daughter who will be missed by all who knew her.

Born Sunday, August 25, 1957 in Shreveport, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her father, Malcolm Northcutt; siblings, Michael Northcutt, Terry Northcutt, Malcolm Northcutt, Jr. and Debbie Moore.

Mr. Timothy Alton Walker, age of 40 of Jonesboro, joined his Savior Monday, November 26, 2018. Timothy was a huge fan of just about every sport, but especially was a fan of #24 Jeff Gordon, #9 Chase Elliot and the San Fransisco 49ers. He kept up to date with FOX News and our president Trump. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, son in law, classmate and friend. He was a true blessing and treasure to all he met. Timothy loved his wife and daughter and enjoyed every moment of time he spent with them

Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Ashley Causey Walker; daughter, Carlie Nicole Walker; parents, Linna Jane and M.H.
