Bobby Ray Myers

Bobby Ray Myers, 75, of Montgomery, went to be with his Lord and Savior February 2nd, 2021.

Born June 23rd, 1945, a lifelong resident of Montgomery, La. Bobby was a logger by trade but a servant of the Lord by heart. As Deacon and Sunday School leader at New Salem Baptist Church, Bobby never missed an opportunity to spread the word of the Gospel. He was the ultimate image of how a Christian should lead their life. In December of 1971 he would marry the love of his life, Ruby Charlene. Being from a family with 11 siblings, Bobby had no problem becoming a great family man with 4 boys of his own. Never would you see Bobby without a smile on his face, and nothing could make him smile more than his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Weyman and Inez Myers; brothers, Ernest, WJ and Jesse Myers; brother-in-law, George Dement; and best friend, Buford Pinder.

Those left to cherish his memory, his wife of 49 years, Ruby Charlene Myers; sons, Robert Stroud(Marie), Donny Stroud(Toni), David Stroud(Cheryl) and Ted Stroud; brothers, Dick Myers(Kathy), William Myers(Colleen) and Dago Myers(Shirley); sisters, Liz Miller(Dave), Bertha Dement, Alice MaGee(George), Sue Moses and Margaret Martin(Yancy); sister-in-laws, Lucindy Myers and Cindy Myers; grandchildren, Camille Roark(David), Jonathan Ray(Emily), Tonia Chaney(Dave), Chris Eddleman(Carla), Chasity Adcock(Jason), Cory Stroud, Bree Spillman(Ethan), Cody Stroud(Taylor), Nicole ‘Rae Rae’ Bakalis(Phil), Megan Barnes(Micah) and Brent Shaw(Jessica); 23 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and community full of special nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services were held at 2:00 PM Friday February 5th 2021 in the New Salem Cemetery at Crews, LA, with Reverends Richard Winegeart and Terry Taylor officiating, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Pallbearers; Cory Stroud, Jason Adcock, Phil Bakalis, Dwayne Myers, Corky Cooper, Jeremy Cooper and Jimmy Plunkett.

Honorary Pallbearers; Curtis Carver, Wendell Carver, and RJ Myers.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Crews New Salem Baptist Church building fund.
