Twilla Dell Evans Parker

Mrs. Twilla Dell Evans Parker, age 86 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away June 16, 2021 at Camelot Leisure Living in Ferriday. She wasborn November 20, 1934 in Hagler Arkansas, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield and a homemaker.

Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and WIllie Mae Blevins Evans, her husband of 53 years Floyd Parker, Jr., grandson Matthew Parker, and siblings Bonnie Jura Sparks and Floyd Evans, Jr.

Survivors include her children Marva Dell Floyd (Mike Godfrey), Floyd Parker III (Elizabeth), Anna Lee Martin, Tony Parker, and Terry Wayne Parker, seventeen grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandson, and a niece Saundra Sparks.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 23 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randall Flourney officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield.

Mrs. Deborah Delain Mooney, age 59 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021.

Born Thursday, March 1, 1962 in Greenville, Mississippi, she was preceded in death by her mother, Reba Faye Ethridge Robinson; sons, Thomas Dwayne Mooney and Chad Edward Mooney; grandparents, Carlton and Bernice Ethridge; In-Laws, Myron and Lucille Mooney.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 42 years, Thomas Mooney; children, Pamela Delain Hight (Allen), Brittany Leann Freeman (Jerry) and Michael Bryan Mooney; grandchildren, Zachary Hight, Emily Freeman, Landon Freeman, Samuel Hight and Madison Freeman; sisters, Sherry Jordan, Evon White, Diana Dodge and Elizabeth Mitchell.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Sneed and Rev. Darrell White officiating. Interment followed in Antioch Community Cemetery in Brewton’s Mill.

Jessie Rae Hanson Kyle Hand

Jessie Rae Hanson Kyle Hand, age 81, passed away March 31, 2021 in Winnfield, LA. She was born on April 15, 1939 to Jesse B. Hanson and Mildred King Hanson. She grew up in Atlanta, LA, raised her children in Carthage, TX and passed her autumn years in Winnfield, LA. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and an avid quilter in the Kisatchie Quilt Guild. She will be remembered for her loving nature, and outstanding talent in her quilt shop and kitchen.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Delwin Kyle, the father of her children, brother, J.E. Hanson, and step daughter, Kayla Powell.

Mr. Richard Irwin Bagwell, age 73 of Zwolle, Louisiana passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021.

Born Tuesday, April 27, 1948 in Jonesboro, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel Brewton Bagwell and Ray Bagwell; and his wife, Karen Bagwell.

Richard Irwin (much known as Dad and Paw) Bagwell graduated Sulphur High in 1966, and McNeese State University in 1970. Not much after that he served in the U.S. Military from 1971-1973 and in Vietnam.

Troy Thomas Kelly

Mr. Tom Kelly, age 90 of Dodson, passed through the gates of Heaven on June 5, 2021 to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ, and loved ones that have preceded him. Mr. Kelly was a former newspaper publisher operating several newspapers.

Kelly was a graduate of Dodson High School and attended Louisiana State University and graduated from Northwestern State University with a degree in journalism. He began his career in journalism as a reporter for the Winn Parish Enterprise in 1949.

During the next 10 years he served in various positions at the weekly Sevier County News-Record in Sevierville, Tn, at the Gladewater [Texas] Daily Mirror and the weekly Natchitoches Enterprise.

In 1959 he joined the Jennings Daily News as managing editor in 1962 he became partner and publisher of The Ruston Daily Leader in Ruston, Louisiana. After almost 20 years as publisher he moved to Slidell where he managed the Slidell Daily Times.

Vivian Burnette Thornton Peel

Vivian Burnette Thornton Peel, age 98, of Jonesboro, Louisiana, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021, at Alpine Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Ruston, Louisiana.

Mrs. Peel was born in Jonesboro, Louisiana, on May 27, 1922, to Willie Benton Thornton and Mattie Mae Neal Thornton. She married James Murray Peel on June 10, 1939, and soon thereafter, she bore the responsibility of caring for their two young children until he returned from serving in the United States Army during World War II. She later worked in a Jonesboro clothing store for a short time, but she was predominantly a homemaker, known to her family as an excellent cook, seamstress, and gardener. Mrs. Peel was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, Louisiana, teaching children's Sunday School for many years.

A service to celebrate the life of Billy Martin will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Creston Baptist Church with Pastor Truman Leach and Bro. Ken Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery, Brewton Mill, LA under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. The family received friends after 5 pm on Tuesday, June 8 th at Creston Baptist Church located at 5315 LA-9, Creston, LA 71070.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Johnny Hasley, Brandon Watkins, Lee Cavazos, Cody Gray, Tim Howell, and Dusty Cavazos. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Boyer, Randell Kelley, Richard Kelley, and Thomas Allen.

Billy Joe Martin, 56 years of age and a resident of Goldonna, passed away on June 3, 2021 in Shreveport, LA. He was born on July 2, 1964 to Johnny and Nelda Brown Martin in Turkey, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Born Sunday, December 19, 1948 in Zwolle, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lowery; parents Mary Florence Leone Moore and Willie Moore; brothers, Willie Moore and wife Barbara, Lawrence Morre and Gerald Moore.

Mrs. Lowery loved her family and enjoyed gardening and playing games on her phone.
