A Memorial Tribute to Roy Jones 3-18-30 6-10-16

On March 18, 1930 his parents, William Samuel “Judge” and Martha Hancock Jones, named him Judge Eroy Jones. In most of his business matters he was known as J. E. Jones, but to his family he was always “Roy”, Dad, PaPaw or PaPaw Great. He lived his 86 years in Winnfield and was involved in several functions around the parish. His passion was farming and hunting after his retirement in 1988. He also loved to talk and never met a stranger. He would talk politics, share stories and memories from his childhood and everday life. He was known for his tomato plants grown in his green house and the tomatoes sold at the Farmer’s Market, along with other vegetables. Due to his health, he was unable to farm or hunt like he wanted to. Prior to his death, he had a deer stand built in front of his house (under protest of some of his family, especially his wife). It was a health hazard and in the center of her rose bushes. But…that year, he killed a deer from that stand and was one proud hunter.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY “MOM” Gloria Johnson Feb. 1, 1946 - Nov. 28, 2016

Article Image Alt Text

Feb. 1, 1946 - Nov. 28, 2016 Just a few months without you have seen like a life time. I miss from hearing your voice and seeing your smiling face. The Broken Chain We little knew that morning that God would call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; For part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories; your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. We love you, Annette, Terrance, DeCourtney, Tama, your grandchildren, great-grandson and other family members.
