Judge Derr spoke to the Kiwanis Monday, May 20, 2019. He was concerned about the government taking over different aspects of our lives. Imani Combs-Talley graduated from Dodson High School Sunday, May 19, 2019. Her last name was left out of the graduation section and the Enterprise apologizes for this inconvenience.

Jimmy Dale Zimmerman brought as his guests Matt Walton, Sandy Teal and Teddy Darrell Price from Autumn Leaves Nursing Home. This is National Nursing Home Week and Matt Walton spoke to the club.

There was a balloon release on Monday morning and an Open House on Thursday from 11AM – 1 PM and lunch was served. They invited everyone to come out and enjoy a meal and take a tour of the facility.

Nursing homes are not what they used to be. There are major changes every year. Nursing homes now send more people home than die in the facility. Many people come for rehabilitation and go home on home health or not on home health. Autumn Leaves Nursing Home is a place where people come to enjoy living.

Kathy Brewton speaks to Kiwanis club

Dr. Jerry Williams and Kathy Brewton

There are 2 organizations associated with the Winn Parish Library, one being the Winn Parish Library Board of Control and the other being Friends of the Library. Mrs. Brewton was on the Library Board and once she left that she organized the Friends of the Library. This organization was formed to assist the Library in providing equipment and classes that are not funded in the budget.

Mrs. Brewton gave us a little trivia quiz to check our knowledge about books.

There are 4 types of readers. Involved readers like to do research about their books, exacting readers are careful in their book selection, serial readers like to read all of an author’s books and eclectic readers read a lot of different things.

There are two books clubs associated with the Library-a discussion book club that meets on the 2 nd Tuesday of each month at 9:30 and discusses an assigned book. The other club is the Reader’s Review and a review is given of a particular book.
