Mr. Arnold Lewis Hunter, age 88 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017. Born Saturday, February 9, 1929 in Forest, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Hunter and Amey Womack Hunter; sister, Margie Terral; and daughter, Susan Ranae Hunter. Mr. Hunter was an avid fisherman, gardener, and carpenter. He previously managed the Venus and Princess Theaters in Winnfield and was retired from the Winn Parish School Board. Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Rickey Hunter (Liz), Kerry Hunter (Jianping Han), Timothy Hunter (Mary), Sam Hunter (Lacey), Tony Frederick (Daina), and Stacey Crain (Bruce); companion of 40 years, Tess Frederick; 16 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; siblings, Juanita Honeycutt, Paul Hunter, Shirley Thomas, and Bonnie Duck. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Carpenter officiating.

Mr. Jack Loyd Parker, age 83 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017. Born Tuesday, April 3, 1934 in Joyce, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence I. Parker and Jenny Miller Parker; daughter, Debra Dryden; sister, Audie Parker; and brothers, Hoyett and Kersh Parker. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dorthy Jean Parker; sons, Michael Parker, Jonathan Parker, and Charles Parker; grandsons, Jeffery Parker and Steven Barton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Southern Funeral Home. Interment followed in Garden of Memories, in Winnfield. Mr. Mack William Thompson, age 83 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017. Born Friday, February 23, 1934 in Dodson, Louisiana, he was a retired log truck driver. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Sharid and Edith Deas Thompson; wife, Carolyn Milton Thompson; daughter, Joie Maria Sevene. Those left to cherish his memory include his grandchildren, Liza McDow and Emily McDavid (Lynn); great grandchildren, Joshua and Matthew McDow and Serina, Grayce and Hanna McDavid; siblings, Red Thompson, Derwood Thompson, Jerrie Hennigan and Karrie Thomisee. Graveside funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at New Hope Cemetery of Dodson with Rev. Arthur Robinson and Rev. Gary Robertson officiating. Interment followed in under the direction of Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield. Serving the family as pallbearers were Jim Bob Jones, Matthew McDow, Andrew Bain, Lynn McDavid, Chris McDavid and Bill Hagen.

Mary Ann Pepper

A memorial service for Mrs. Mary Ann Pepper, age 74, of Sikes was held Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Sikes Baptist Church. Mrs. Pepper passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston. She liked gardening, enjoyed sewing and crocheting, she was an avid yard seller and loved a good deal. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gerald Pepper, Sr; sons, Gerald Pepper, Jr. and wife Tammy, Kenny Pepper and wife Lisa; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Sue Higginbotham; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ida Lee (Maxwell) Walsworth; brothers, Donald Walsworth and Tommy Walsworth; sisters, Dewanna Livingston and Jackie Higginbotham. James “Jim” Spangler

James “Jim” Spangler, a 53 year resident of Torrance, CA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 25, 2017 in Torrance. Born and raised in Joyce, Louisiana, Jim served in the U.S. Navy. While in Long Beach, CA, he met and married his loving wife Lois on January 25, 1964 in Hawthorne, CA. They settled in Torrance where they raised three daughters. Jim retired from Northrop Grumman and loved to spend time with his grandchildren, traveling with his wife, cooking and fishing. Jim is survived by wife Lois Ann Spangler, daughters Lisa Prentice (Rick), Bridget Spangler, Stephanie Woolley (Tom), grandchildren Katie Waters and Shane, Grace and Lucy Woolley, sisters Pat Tomasini and Carolyn Sue Alford, brothers Kenneth Spangler and wife Patsy and Gary Spangler and wife Donna. Jim is preceded in death by his parents James and Lena Spangler, sisters Helen Key and Frances Stringer and brother Joseph Spangler.

James Kirby Malloy

Mr. James Kirby Malloy, age 89 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Born September 20, 1927 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He and his wife owned and operated the Sears Catalog Store of Winnfield for 13 years and The Youth Shop for 40 years. He enjoyed gardening and reading and his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Mr. Malloy was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Abrams Malloy; parents, James and Ola Alice Riley Malloy; siblings, Virginia Busby, J.E. Malloy and Inez Lucas. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Aleta Hoffman (Frank) of Dodson; son, Kevin Malloy (Peggy) of Wilson, NC; grandchildren, McKae Booth (Jared), Jason Turner (Misty), Royce Malloy (Katie) and Sassy Malloy; great-grandchildren, Felix, Rowan, Chase, Olive, Alice and Hazel; brother-in-law, Austin Abrams (Vera); numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lindy L. Jordan Sr., age 68 of Tannehill, Louisiana, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017 at his residence. He was a native of Winnfield and was retired from the U. S. Forestry Service. He was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his parents Homer A. Jordan and Jewel Upton Jordan, and by infant twin sons John and James Jordan. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Margaret Poisso Jordan, children Lindy L. “Jr.” Jordan (Tara) of Bossier City, La, Christi Jordan Frieu (David) of Dodson, La., Matt Jordan (Chasity) of Winnfield, La., Matt Poisso (Lisa) of Montesano, Wa., grandchildren T-Dave, Gabrielle, and Aaron Frieu, and Dustin, Cody, and Wyatt Jordan, and one brother Mike Jordan (Becky) of Tannehill, La., Mr. Jordan is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Reverends Wallace Ingles and Tom May officiating.
