John Glynn Shaw

Mr. John Glynn Shaw, age 72 of Montgomery, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.

Mr. Shaw was a US Army veteran.

Born Sunday, November 24, 1946 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Johnathon Theodore and Annie Rai Doyle Shaw; sister, Mary Premeaux; brother, Donnie Shaw.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Ashley Lasyone (Rex); son, Justin Shaw (Kristina); grandchildren, Kaylie, Kolby and Kayson Lasyone and Cayden and Carter Shaw; special nieces, Marla Freeman and Brandi Hasley; special companion, Tammy Isakson.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Atlanta Cemetery with Rev. Craig James officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Puckett Willis

Puckett Willis passed away peacefully on March 27, 2019 surrounded by his family. Puckett was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Parker Willis. He is survived by his daughters Susan Willis and Jennifer Buckley (Phant), and three grandchildren, Parker Fliedner, Sam Buckley IV and Matthew Buckley.

Puckett was born in Sikes, Louisiana on August 17, 1924, the son of Ernest Willis and Lena Puckett Willis. He attended Sikes High School, graduating in 1941. While there, he met Rose Willis, who became his high school sweetheart and later his wife. Rose and Puckett were married in 1952 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary prior to her death in 2018.

Andrew Wiley Warren, Sr.

Mr. Andrew Wiley Warren, Sr., age 81 of Calvin, passed from this life on Monday, March 25, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents Tandy Cade and Rosie Warren; brothers Albern Warren, Winfred Warren Sr., Wesley Warren; sisters Sybil Evans and Shirley Rose Norred; grandchildren Cole and Justin Sanders.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Alice Faye Beaudion-Duraso Warren; sons Andrew “Andy”Warren, Jr. (Dawn) of Dubach, Robby Warren (Roger) of Calvin, Bobby Warren (Connie) of Calvin; daughters Michelle Rozelle (Richard) of Winnfield, Alicia Sanders (Mike) of Calvin, Tammy Hebert (Mike) of Youngsville. He is also survived by grandchildren Brooke, Joey, Jeremy, Nicole, Cameron, Collin, Carden, Connor, Seth, Dakota, Hope, Todd, Ashley, Alexis; great-grandchildren Landon, Jolie, Drake, Nevaeh, Ilithyia, Braylen, and Jesse; brothers LaVon Warren and D.C. Warren

Wanda Cheryl Vines

Mrs. Wanda Cheryl Vines, age 68 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019.

Born Friday, January 26, 1951 in Jonesboro, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Lorene Walker Springfield and Billy Ray Springfield; husband, Bobby Ray Vines; and granddaughter, Angel Vines.

Mrs. Vines was a member of Hurricane Creek Baptist Church. She worked at Fannin Farm Supply in Weston for many years, and later at Wal-Mart. Wanda enjoyed reading, sewing, crafts and flowers. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Tammy Roark; son, Danny Vines; grandchildren, Tyler, Heather, Brandon, Taylor, Dustin, Maggie, and Emily; great grandchildren, Hayden, Brynnleigh, Tanner, Graycee, and Raeleigh; siblings, Janice Blundell, David Springfield, Deborah Vines, Pam Blundell, and Billie “Dawn” Springfield.

Gloria Jean Shows

Mrs. Gloria Jean Shows, age 79 of Winnfield, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home.

Mrs. Shows is the daughter of the late Wallace Desadier and the late Virginia Desadier. She was also preceded in death by her sister Ann Ates, brothers Buster Desadier, and Teddy Desadier and her son-in-law Sam McFarland. She was a homemaker and a devoted ministers wife serviing in various churches for more than 50 years.

Her funeral services were Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 3:00 p.m., in The Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with William Avants officiating

Mrs. Read is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, John Woodgate Read; her beloved son, William Woodgate Read; parents, Maurice and Vivian Roberston; brother, Troyce Robertson and his wife, Elaine Roberston.

Billie Waters

Mrs. Billie Waters, age 64 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

Born Tuesday, March 22, 1955, she was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Elliot Greene DeBusk and Billy Ewing DeBusk; and nephew Brian Trent Rogers.

Mrs. Waters enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her flowers. She loved making arts and crafts for her friends and relatives. She was a collector of clocks. Mrs. Waters attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church and loved Rev. Doyle and Carolyn McGrew, along with all the church members.

Morris Lee “Mac” McManus

Mr. Morris Lee “Mac” McManus, age 77 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 21, 2019.

Born Saturday, January 24, 1942 in Verda, Louisiana, he, along with his wife owned and operated McManus Grocery and Meat Market in Joyce for 15 years. He fought in the Vietnam War where he was wounded in combat and awarded the Purple Heart.

Mr. McManus was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Avis Thomason McManus; grandchild, Dorian Fowler; great-grandchild, Joplin Rain Mitchell; siblings, Mona Ann Kingston and Gerald McManus.

Sparky Stevenson

Sparky Stevenson, age 60, passed away March 13, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Born in Winnfield on Friday, November 14, 1958, Sparky was a long-time resident of Winnfield, graduating from Winn Academy in 1977. Sparky moved to Monroe and worked at Manville paper plant for 15 years plus, before going to school to become a crane operator and working in construction. Sparky was a cancer survivor for many years and upon retiring spent his time fishing, traveling, and enjoying family.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Harry and Gladys Stevenson; brother, Richard Stevenson; and sisters, Nelda Carter and Debbie Smith.
