Glenn Doyle Gilcrease

Mr. Glenn Doyle Gilcrease, born on August 27, 1948, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at the age of 77.
Glenn lived a full and meaningful life, defined by hard work, deep faith, and a love for the great outdoors. Over the years, he built a strong work ethic through careers as a welder, in the timber industry, and in rental property management. Beyond his professional endeavors, Glenn was known for his passion for fitness. He was an avid runner and cyclist who believed in staying active and healthy throughout his life.
A true outdoorsman, Glenn found joy in camping, fishing, and all outdoor activities. However, above all else, his greatest joy was found in his grandchildren, whom he loved deeply and unconditionally.
On July 24, 1970, he married the love of his life, Gayle Waggoner. Together they built a life centered around their devotion to their family, faith, and each other. They enjoyed attending plays together with friends, traveling, and going to auct ions. He was preceded in death by his father, Noah Blanchard Gilcrease Sr., his mother, Betty Stroud Gilcrease, his sisters, Doris Nugent and Julie Ann Boyett and his brother, Jimmie Whisonant.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Gayle Waggoner Gilcrease of Winnfield, his son Dr. Edward Glenn Gilcrease (Eve) of West Monroe, his daughter, Sharon Doyle-Lynn Gilcrease and his grandchildren, Ryker, Liam and Olivia of West Monroe, his brother, Noah Blanchard Gilcrease Jr. of Winnfield and his sister, Jackie Eubanks of Bonner’s Ferry, Idaho, plus a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family received friends from 5:00PM until 8:00PM on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, and again on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 11:00AM until time of the services.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 8, 2025 in the chapel of Southern at 2:00PM with Rev. Norris Curry and Rev. Brad Jones officiating. Interment followd the service in the Garden of Memories in Winnfield.
Those honored to serve the family as pallbearers were Nathan Whisonant, Kyle Whisonant, Kevin Whisonant, Donald Boyett, Trey Gilcrease, and Paul McCain. Honorary pallbearers were Rayford Riley, Jack Durr, Cranford Jordan, Charlie Bice and Dr. Bill Gaddis.
Glenn will be remembered for his strength, his quick wit, his generous heart, and his unwavering support for those he loved. His legacy will live on in the lives of all who knew him.
