Mr. Stacy Lance Burnett, age 22 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016. Born Sunday, September 19, 1993 in Urania, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his uncle, Scottie Wayne Burnett. Mr. Burnett was a 2011 graduate of Dodson High School and was currently an Officer for the Jonesboro, Louisiana City Police Department.

Mr. Robert (Bobby) Dingler, age 59 of Sikes, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016. Born Saturday, January 19, 1957 in Monroe, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Robert Dingler and Jacqueline Lea Myer Butler; step-father, Clayton Butler; and siblings, Bill Dingler and Sally Schmitt. Mr. Dingler was employed in the logging industry. He loved hunting, fishing, his family, and his friends. Those left to cherish his memory include his Daughters, Amy Kay Dingler, Pierport, OH and Shana Deanne Dingler, Yakima, WA; son, Joshua Michael Dingler, Yakima, WA; grandchild, Mathew Rogers; siblings, Martha Dingler of West Monroe, John Dingler of Quitman, April Powell of Dodson, and Jackie Henderson of Winnfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck LaCroix officiating. Interment followed in Transport Cemetery, in Dodson.

Margie Ann Leslie

Mrs. Margie Ann Leslie, age 67 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Born Friday, October 29, 1948 in Winnfield, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Katy Moore Spangler; daughter-inlaw, Janee McDuff; children, Debbie and Ernie McDuff; and grandchildren, Zachary, Jeremiah and Vincent McDuff. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jerry Leslie; sons, James and Loyd McDuff; grandson, Robbie McDuff; step-daughters, Angela and Paige Leslie; and step-son, Eric Leslie. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Caples officiating. Interment followed in Beech Creek Cemetery, in Winnfield. James Adam Pearl Sr.

James Adam Pearl Sr., age 74 of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home. Mr. Pearl was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of Vietnam and retired after more than 21 years of service. He was a member of the Calvin Baptist Church. Mr. Pearl was the son of the late Roland Pearl and the late Pauline Louise Kutcher Pearl. He was also preceded in death by a son Terry Burnum and a brother George Roland Pearl. Survivors include his wife of twenty-three years Jackie Campbell Pearl, five children James Adam Pearl Jr., Deanna Marie Pearl, Daniel Jared Pearl, Susan Burnum Price, and Steven Martin Burnum, as well as a sister Rovene Lockhart; grandchildren: Trey Pearl, Kole Pearl, Kade Pearl, Brandon Pearl and Chloe Pearl, Leyton Burnum and Keaton Burnum, Elizabeth, Katie and Teddy D. Price. A Memorial services was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Calvin Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Verhoef officiating.

Maxine Hale

Mrs. Maxine Hale, age 95 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. Born Thursday, October 7, 1920 in Winnfield, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Iva P. Howell Melton; husband, Tom Hale; son, Robert Allen Hale; and daughter, Rita Belle Foockle. Maxine and her husband Tom managed the Pine Ridge Country Club in Winnfield for many, many years. Those left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Tommy Foockle, Chris Foockle, and Victoria Williams; and 6  great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Harry F. Foockle officiating. Interment followed in Garden of Memories, in Winnfield. Carroll Long

A service to honor the life of Mr. Carroll Long was held at 2 pm Monday, August 22, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Natchitoches with Rev. Thomas Rush and Rev. Calvin Phelps officiating. A private family committal service followed at Zion Hill Cemetery in Tannehill, LA. Carroll Long, 72 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 with his family by his side. Carroll was a winner on and off the field and especially in the game of life. Born July 9, 1944 in Winnfield, LA, Carroll joined his twin brother, Gerald who had been waiting ten minutes for the start of a journey together. His parents, Rubin Ray and Ruby Long were now proud parents of their 7th and 8th sons. Prior to the twins, Ruby had given birth to James Wade, Colvin Ray, Jimmy Dale, Tom Henry, Donald Smith and William Jack Long. Carroll was educated in Winn Parish and graduated in 1962 from Winnfield High.

Charles Orville Spikes

Mr. Charles Orville Spikes, age 98 of Atlanta, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016. Born Sunday, June 30, 1918 in a log cabin in Atlanta, Louisiana. He served his country in the U. S. Army and fought in Central Europe and the Rhineland Battle during World War II. He served in Company C 138 Engineering Combat Battalion and could still tell you his serial number when asked. He retired from Dunn Brothers Inc. Pipe Line to start his own Forestry Logging Contracting Business in Winn Parish. He was also a member of the Atlanta Baptist Church where he was a deacon for years. Mr. Spikes was an avid sportsman in hunting and fishing. He was supporter and patron to the Atlanta High School and Atlanta Community. He was credited with getting the Atlanta High School parking lot paved, the gym score clock, Atlanta Water system established and was also a founder of the Winn Parish Forest Festival. Mr.

Alice Mae Blake Smith Mrs. Alice Mae Blake Smith, age 83 of Goldonna, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016. Born Wednesday, January 11, 1933 in Brewton’s Mill, Louisiana, she was a member of Yankee Springs Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School 0teacher. She loved to cook and cherished her cookbooks and saved them for family and also enjoyed fishing with her husband. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, T.C. and Myrtie Williams Blake; husband, Johnny William Smith; son, Larry William Smith; nephew, Donnie Blake. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Connie Poirier and husband Robert of Farmerville; grandchildren, Penny Burbank, Holly Murphy, Jan-Michael Smith and Ryan Smith; niece, Diane Allen. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Yankee Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Bartley officiating. Interment followed in Yankee Springs Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
