Mrs. Frankie “Sally” Gordon Guilliams, age 67 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016. Born Sunday, September 4, 1949 in Winnfield, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford D. and Evelyn Box Gordon. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Donnie Guilliams, Dodson, LA; daughters, Stacey Guilliams, Dodson, LA and Shelley Guilliams Swanson and husband Jeremy, Prairieville, LA; son, Dustin Guilliams and wife Casey, Dodson, LA; 6 grandchildren, Mallory Lake, Kamryn Swanson, Layne Swanson, A.J. Weil, Hannah Guilliams, and Drake Guilliams; brothers, Weldon, Harley, and Frank “Butch” Gordon. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Rayford Chandler and Rev. Ronny Taylor, Sr. officiating. Interment followed in Hurricane Creek Cemetery, in Dodson, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Mr. Jerry Dewayne Pendarvis, age 73 of Tullos, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016.Born Sunday, October 18,1942 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Dane and Eloise Adair Roberts Pendarvis. Mr. Pendarvis was a graduate of Fair park High School in Shreveport and served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He was retired from Placid Refining Company after 30 years, later worked for Kilpatrick Life Insurance Company for 10 years, and was the former business owner of J & J Curb Market of Tullos. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, where he loved his church family. Jerry loved quartet singing and was the tenor singer with The Sounds of Calvary for many years. He will be remembered as having never met a stranger as well as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

Services for Charlene Sargent, 72, of Tyler, were held on Wednesday, August 31,2016, at 1:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Reverend David Mahfood officiating. Private burial followed at Cathedral in the Pines in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Sargent passed away Sunday, August 28 at Trinity Mother Frances after an extended battle with cancer. She was born November 7, 1944 in Winnfield, Louisiana to Charlie Lemoine, Jr. and Ellon Lemoine Smith, who married Floyd Smith upon Charlie’s death. As a member of Marvin United Methodist Church in Tyler, Charlene was steadfast in her faith; her family is comforted bythe knowledge that she now knows only joy. Charlene was known by all as a strong, clever woman who never missed an opportunity to teach her grandchildren how to sew, win hearts, and comb a sales rack. Charlene graduated from Louisiana Technical College with a degree as a licensed practical nurse.

Bernice Riser, 102 of Winnfield, LA passed away Friday, August 26, 2016. Services were held September 1, 2016 in Winnfield, LA.

Mr. Virgil Allen Tharpe, III, age66 of Dry Prong, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016.Mr. Tharpe attended The Pentecostals of Alexandria and was retired from Cajun Harley Davidson of Scott, Louisiana and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Born Monday, April 3, 1950 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Allen Tharpe, II and Ruby Elaine Davison Tharpe. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Deborah Sonnier Tharpe, Dry Prong; sons, Virgil Tharpe, Lafayette and Cory White (Priscila), Orlando, FL; daughters, Lindsey Nevitt (Jackson), Lafayette, Kimberly Freeman, Dry Prong, Keri Cook(Chris), Winnfield and Crystal Lasyone, Pollock; 8 grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn “Sister” Baker (Larry), Abbeville and Teresa White (Tony), Winnfield. Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Mangun officiating. Interment followed in Garden of Memories, in Winnfield.

Mr. Stacy Lance Burnett, age 22 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016. Born Sunday, September 19, 1993 in Urania, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his uncle, Scottie Wayne Burnett. Mr. Burnett was a 2011 graduate of Dodson High School and was currently an Officer for the Jonesboro, Louisiana City Police Department.

Mr. Robert (Bobby) Dingler, age 59 of Sikes, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016. Born Saturday, January 19, 1957 in Monroe, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Robert Dingler and Jacqueline Lea Myer Butler; step-father, Clayton Butler; and siblings, Bill Dingler and Sally Schmitt. Mr. Dingler was employed in the logging industry. He loved hunting, fishing, his family, and his friends. Those left to cherish his memory include his Daughters, Amy Kay Dingler, Pierport, OH and Shana Deanne Dingler, Yakima, WA; son, Joshua Michael Dingler, Yakima, WA; grandchild, Mathew Rogers; siblings, Martha Dingler of West Monroe, John Dingler of Quitman, April Powell of Dodson, and Jackie Henderson of Winnfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck LaCroix officiating. Interment followed in Transport Cemetery, in Dodson.

Mrs. Margie Ann Leslie, age 67 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Born Friday, October 29, 1948 in Winnfield, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Katy Moore Spangler; daughter-inlaw, Janee McDuff; children, Debbie and Ernie McDuff; and grandchildren, Zachary, Jeremiah and Vincent McDuff. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jerry Leslie; sons, James and Loyd McDuff; grandson, Robbie McDuff; step-daughters, Angela and Paige Leslie; and step-son, Eric Leslie. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Caples officiating. Interment followed in Beech Creek Cemetery, in Winnfield.
