Paul Thomas Hight

Mr. Paul Thomas Hight, age 60 of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016. Born Saturday, October 22, 1955 in Morrilton, Arkansas, he was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Shirley Dendy Hight; brother, James Earl Hight. Those left to cherish his memory include his brothers, Carl Hight and wife Tammy and Edward Hight and wife Jennifer; sister-in-law, Desha Hight; step-mother, Ann Hight; step-brother, Randy Boyett and wife Cindy; step-sister, Beverly Lafitte and husband Jimmy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Sardis Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Smith officiating. Gladys Marie Taylor

Gladys Marie Taylor, 98 of Jonesboro, LA assed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at Forest Haven Nursing Home. Mrs. Taylor was a department manager. She was preceded in death by her husband Louie Taylor, son Lynn Edward Taylor, grandson Johnny Lynn Taylor, great grandson Jarred Lynn Taylor and a number of brothers and sisters. Survivors are daughter in law Lynda Ann Avery Taylor of Dodson, granddaughter Christy Posey and husband Pat of Dodson, LA; granddaughter in law Lori Richardson and husband Mark of Olla, La; three great grandchildren, Chelsea Taylor Higgs and husband Haven of Olla, La, Tyler Posey of Dodson, La and Ashton Posey of Dodson, La; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Siloam Baptist Church in Gansville, LA with Bro. Charlie Hammons, Bro. Adam Stanfield and Bro. Rayford Chandler officiating. Interment followed in the Siloam Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Mike Rogers

Mike Rogers, 69, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away July 23, 2016. He was born December 20, 1946, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late George Ervin and Martha Geraldine (Scroggin) Rogers. Mike was a member of South Winnfield Baptist Church in Winnfield, Louisiana, and attended Lake Valley Community Church in Hot Springs. Mike graduated from Saline High School in Saline, Louisiana in 1964. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology from Northwestern State University in 1970. He was also a member of Louisiana National Guard. Mike worked his entire career in forest products, retiring in 2010 from Temple-Inland Corporation as complex manager. Mike married his soul-mate, Brenda Temple Rogers on June 23, 1967. They spent the most wonderful 49 years together and enjoyed traveling on cruises with friends from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Georgia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and corvettes. Mike and Brenda moved to Hot Springs in 2013 and were welcomed with open arms.

Amy LaFollette

Amy LaFollette, age 38, passed away in her home in Dodson, Louisiana following a lengthy illness. Amy was a loving and caring person who always put others comforts and needs before her own. Even though she had every reason to, she never complained. She was an animal lover and left behind many pets, most of which were rescues. Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents; Sherman LaFollette & Lucille Hemphill LaFollette and Ellis Stewart & Ethel Cockerham Stewart. Those left to cherish memories of her include her parents; Grover LaFollette & Patsy Stewart LaFollette, sisters; Kim LaFollette and Shannon LaFollette Stassen, nephew Lathan Wise, niece Halle Wise and special friends Bobbie Lee & B.J. Spence. A family memorial service was held July 23, 2016 at noon at the Old Union Baptist Church in Joyce, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the ASPCA or your local animal shelter in honor of Amy.

Amy Robertson

Amy Robertson born April 21st 1968 died Friday July 15, 2016 after a battle with cancer. She is survived by her greatly loved family including her husband Glenn Robertson, two sons: Benjamin and Beau St. Andrie, daughter Katelyn Robertson, sister Carrie Simmons with her family, and father and mother Thomas and Jeannie May. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Donna May. She attended ULM and became a registered nurse followed by working 23 years with the Willis Knighton Health System. In lieu of flowers please donate to the United American Cancer Society. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday July 20 at 9:00 am at Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Hwy., Shreveport, La 71115 followed by graveside service at Couley Methodist church, 14245 Hwy. 84, between Natchitoches and Winnfield Louisiana. She will be missed by family, friends, and patients she proudly cared for.

Wendy Lowrey Herring Funeral services for Wendy Lowrey Herring, 47, of Truxno were held at 2:00 pm Friday, July 15, 2016 at Meridian Baptist Church with Bro. Glyn Nale & Bro. Byron Boykin officiating. Burial was in Birds Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville. Wendy went to her heavenly home July 12, 2016. She was a homemaker, a member of Meridian Baptist Church and a volunteer firefighter. She loved stray animals, fishing and anything outdoors. Wendy was preceded in death by her grandparents: Doyle & Odell Lowrey and John & Edna McDow; and a niece, Cheyenne Boren. Left to cherish her memory are her parents: Buddy & Mary Lowrey of Huttig, AR; husband, David Lane Herring of Truxno; daughter, Laken Breanne Colson & husband, Jimmy Ray, Jr. of Farmerville; sister, Shana Marie Boren of St. Joe, AR; 3 grandchildren: Clareese Colson, Dawson Colson and James Morgan Colson of Farmerville; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Services for Miss Dorothy Shell were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, in the First United Methodist Church of Winnfield with Rev. Kevin Smith officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Miss Shell was born March 3, 1916, in Winnfield, Louisiana, and died Saturday, July 16, 2016, in the Winn Parish Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dudley Floyd and Della Peters Shell; her twin sister, Doris Shell; her three brothers, Dudley P. Shell, Dennis Shell, and Denton Shell; and two nephews, John Shell and Steve Shell. She is survived by three nieces, Fran Shell Walton, Jan Shell Beville, and Elise Shell; one nephew, Pete Shell of Natchitoches; two great nieces, Sara Catherine Walton Crossland of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Denise Beville Brown of Huntsville, Alabama; and two nephews, Matt Walton of Winnfield and Jared Beville of Bossier City.

Virine Pender, 68, of Hermann, MO, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at her residence. Virine was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on August 1, 1947, a daughter of the late Elzie Butler & Lydia Cleo (Woodall) Barbo. She was married to Billy Carol Pender in May of 1968, in Louisiana. Billy precedes her in death. Virine was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Cuba, MO. She worked as CNA. Virine is survived by her children, George Coleman and wife Kelsey Sapp, Columbia, MO; Tracy Case and fiance Corey Romaker, Hermann, MO; Bonita Lottmann and husband Mike, Union, MO; Billy Coleman and wife Denna, Steelville, MO; Retta Russell and husband Gary, Viburnum, MO; and Paul Nelson Jr., Washington D.C.; by a sister, Gloria Jean Mueller and husband Norman, Cuba, MO, a special friend Linda Hill, Hermann, MO, her longtime companion Paul Nelson, 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Cecil Roy Bryant of St. Maurice went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2016 with his wife, children, and brother-in-law by his side. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Bryant; father, Archie Bryant; infant brother James Anthony Bryant; nephew, Kenneth Ray Gorum; and niece, Rolinda Gay Gorum. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlotte Bryant; son, Cecil D. Bryant; daughter, Ramona L. Benoit and husband Johnny; two grandsons, Ryan Dubois and fiancée Lindsy; Terrance Bryant and his fiancée Amanda McGothlin; two great grandchildren, Emma Allyce and Hunter Daniel Bryant. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Gorum and husband Donald; brother, Joe Bryant and his wife Kathy; sister Marie Mooney and husband Terry; sister Debbie Meredith and husband Bobby; and a host of nieces and nephews. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, a love passed on from his daddy to him and his brother. He enjoyed sharing his catch with friends and family or anyone who was in need.

Tristen Howell-Johnson

Tristen Howell-Johnson, infant son of Seth Howell and Jessica Johnson of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 in Alexandria, Louisiana. Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Seth Ray Howell and Jessica Olivia Kelley Johnson, of Winnfield, LA; paternal great grandmother, Betty Howell of Winnfield, LA; paternal grandparents, Marshal and Liz Howell of Winnfield, LA; maternal grandmother, Tonie Kelley of Victorville, CA; sisters, Melissa Johnson, Kaylee Johnson and Brylee Howell, all of Winnfield, LA; brothers, Dylan Griffin and Luke Johnson, also of Winnfield, LA; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield from 1:30 PM until 3:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Bethlehem Cemetery with Rev. Mike Howell officiating.
