Tommie Ciena Wilson Brazzell

Mrs. Tommie Ciena Wilson Brazzell, age 72 of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. Mrs. Brazzell was born January 29, 1944 in McNary, Arizona and was the daughter of Thomas J. Wilson and Grace Callender Wilson. She was also preceded in death by two brothers in law, Arthur Roath and George Nation. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield for many years where she was an active member of the Seekers Sunday School Class. Mrs. Brazzell retired after 30 years from West Frazier in Joyce, Louisiana. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ronald M.

Arthur Irvin Talton, Jr.

Funeral services for Arthur Irvin Talton, Jr. were scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 29, 2016 at First United Methodist Church of Athens with Rev. Faulk Landrum and Rev. Jason Smith officiating. Burial followed at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Athens. Mr. Talton died suddenly at home Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the age of 91. Art, or “Red” as he was known in the Navy, was born in Winnfield, Louisiana on April 3, 1925 to Arthur Irvin Talton, Sr. and Ama Elizabeth Gaar. He was the youngest of four children. Mr. Talton served in the United States Navy in World War II as a radioman. He proudly wore his honorable discharge pin (Ruptured Duck) as a symbol of his devotion to his country. Mr. Talton retired from many years with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an underwriter and spent many years after that woodworking in “Dad T’s” shop. He was a nearly 60 year member of the United Methodist Church in Athens.

Marson Randell Jordan

Mr. Marson Randell Jordan, age 73 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016. Marson Randell Jordan had worked in several movies before he learned that he could write. Since 1990 Jordan worked in several movies, including Unsolved Mysteries, a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, and others. Since 1993 he wrote 270 poems and 13 stories. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, Mystery Writers of America, the Horror Writers Association, and the Central Louisiana Poetry Society. He had a degree from Northwestern State University, located in Natchitoches, Louisiana, plus one-year post graduate work in acting. He owned 54 acres of land next to Dugdemona Swamp. Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer Jordan and Lavenia Williams; siblings, Arvil Ray Jordan, O.C. Jordan and Dorothy Ray. Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev.

Mr. Weeks is survived by two daughters, Haley Meridith Weeks of San Francisco, CA and Hannah Allison Weeks of Dallas, TX; two step-daughters, Callie and Chloe Murray of Bixby, OK; one step-son, Austin Murray of Livingston, LA; his mother, Dorothy Cloud White of Austin, TX; father, Jerry G. Weeks and wife Bobbie Sue Frazier of West Monroe, LA; one brother, Gregory Alan Weeks and wife Kathleen of Austin, TX; two step-brothers, Taylor Frazier and wife Paula of Metarie, LA and Kelly Frazier and wife Tami of The Colony, TX; two special aunts, Karen Weeks Shirley and husband Kevin of Winnfield, LA, and Linda Weeks of Savannah, GA; three special uncles, Eugene Weeks of Goldonna, LA, Jerry Cloud and wife Judy of Winnfield, LA and John Cloud of Winnfield, LA; a host of cousins, friends, and other family members. Mr. Weeks was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Weeks.

Mr. Bo Shively Taylor, age 66, of Keithville, LA passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Willis Knighten South in Shreveport after a lengthy illness. Mr. Taylor served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He is survived by son, Brandon Taylor and wife Ashley of Lacy, Washington; daughter, Amber McKamie of Hope, AR; grandchildren, Elliott and Rhealynn Taylor, Colton Turner, Braiden Bryan, Keller McKamie and Emrie McKamie; brothers, Buford Darrell Taylor and Rodger Taylor; sisters, Penny Holder and husband Mike, Robin Harvey and husband Terry; aunt, Faye Fitzgerald. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford Wesley Taylor and Geraldine Elizabeth (Shively) Taylor; older brother, Art Taylor, infant brother; granddaughter, Abreahna Bryan. Graveside services were held 2:00 pm Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Siloam Cemetery in Gansville with Bro.

Herman M. Millican, age 75, of Alexandria, Louisiana, entered into eternal rest on October 11, 2016 at Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria, Louisiana. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, where he proudly served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Millican retired from a career in the Automobile Industry as a Service Advisor. He was a native of Houston Texas until relocating to Alexandria, La to be near his step-children. Herman was a loving and devoted husband and father to his step-children. He was a sports enthusiast who loved following his favorite football and basketball teams. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Juanita Millican; one brother, James Millican; one sister, Ruth Fergerson and step-son, Robert Smith.

Born Thursday, August 17, 1933 in Winnfield, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Grady W. Smith and Thelma Welch Smith; husbands, David Wessley Steele, Sr. and James Nigreville; twin sister, Pauline Steele and brother- in-law, Dannie R. Steele; sister, Lula Belle Barton; brother-in-law, J. H. Steele and sisterin- law, Caroline B. Steele. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, David W. Steele, Jr. and wife Patricia Steele; daughters, Delores S. Wynn and husband John Paul, and Linda S. Frasier and husband William; grandchildren, Chad Steele, Cheryl S. Faulk and husband Chester, Codie Steele and wife Meagan, John Troyce Wynn and wife Aimee, Laura W. Smola and husband Mike, Sarah Wynn, and Jennifer F. James Richard Murphy

Mr. James Richard Murphy, age 32 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016. Born Saturday, June 30, 1984 in Ruston, Louisiana, he was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church where he was an honorary deacon and was a 2004 graduate of Winnfield Sr. High School. James was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Louie and Johnnie Maxey Murphy; maternal grandparents, Charles and Helen Hill Polk; uncle, Ray Polk. Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, John and Patricia Polk Murphy; brother, Ben Murphy and wife Elizabeth; niece, Emma Grace Murphy as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Big Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Bartley and Rev. Willie Beaubouef officiating. Interment followed in Jordan Hill Cemetery, in Winnfield under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
