The Winnfield Fire Department responded to a commercial fire recently. Dispatch was alerted recently that Delta Tire on Lafayette St was on fire. Engine 1, Engine 3, Ladder 1 and Support 2 responded with 8 personnel. Engine 1 arrived on scene and advised there was smoke showing. Command arrived on scene transmitted a working fire after observing heavy smoke coming from the side of the structure. Engine 1 deployed from bumper attack line for fire suppression. Personnel also deployed supply line to nearby hydrant for water supply. Fire fighters then forced entry on the side door and once personnel donned PPE and SCBAS, made entry and began extinguishing the fire, which was located in the assembly area of the structure. Fire was then observed on the roof of the structure so Ladder 1 deployed aerial device and hose line where crews cut a ventilation hole and was able to spray the fire from the top.

West Frazier once again made the holidays bright for Winn Parish residents by giving out over 550 hams to the community. With the help of Sheriff Cranford Jordan and his deputies, employees of West Frazier gathered together on Wednesday to greet those that were in line to receive a ham. Also, deputies delivered to the elderly that weren’t able to get out. “This is at least the third year that we’ve been called to assist West Frazier. I really appreciate them for all that they do for our community,” said Sheriff Jordan.

Domestic Violence During the Holidays

The holiday season is a time designed to bring out the best in people: many of us strive to be more emotionally charitable at family and social gatherings, or financially charitable toward our favorite organizations and causes. Being our best selves can come as a challenge for even the most well-intentioned, given that the holiday season is so busy and potentially stressful.

However, for domestic violence survivors, the holiday season brings with it far more stressors than for most, as the should-be joyful time sees surges in domestic violence rates and incidents. Understanding the factors contributing to this is crucial for prevention and intervention efforts. Here’s why domestic violence during the holidays is a serious problem — and how you can help by being the best version of yourself this season.

The Uniqueness of the Jewish People

“God is no respecter of persons.” See Acts 10:34 below. He does not have favorites. Believers in Jesus are one in HIM. See Galatians 3:28 below. However, without contradiction, the Bible also declares the uniqueness of the Jews; a special people before God. There are several compelling reasons for this indisputable fact.

First and foremost, in order to bring salvation to the world, God created and established a people in which to bring forth the Messiah, therefore, Jesus is Jewish. This fact alone should tell us that the Jews are not more loved, but special and unique as a people group. This is why the Apostle Paul declared that salvation comes first to the Jews, then to the Greeks. See Romans 1:16 below. Christianity has come through the Jews. They are the most unique and special of all people groups because of these things, as well as a few other relatable factors. See Zechariah 2:7-8 & Deuteronomy 32:910 below.

Winnfield Fire Department Gets New Fire Truck

Dodson police and fire recently held a parade and afterwards had cookies and hot chocolate Santa. Attaching some pictures I hope you will use. We also have a toy collection box up till Dec 20 at Dodson Town Hall, Powell quick stop and Dodson Dollar general.

Winnfield Fire Department Gets New Fire Truck

The Winnfield Fire Department has a new Engine 2 that will replace the 1976 Mack that served the city faithfully for nearly 50 years. This truck was purchased from Delta Fire Services out of Eunice. This truck is a brand new 2023 Spartan pumper with 1500 gallons per minute pump and a water capacity of 1000 gallons. Because of its size and length, fire fighters will have easier access to areas of the city that have small congested streets. The truck at this time is being outfitted with equipment and should be in service the first quarter of 2024.
