As summer break comes to a close, returning to school can be a financial burden on many families. In an effort to help relieve some of that financial stress, we can all enjoy the Annual Sales Tax Holiday from 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 5 until 11:59 p.m., Saturday, August 6. For the 2016 year, we will not be shopping state sales tax free, but will have a two percent state sales tax exemption. That means we will only by paying three percent state sales tax on our purchases. This is a great time to take care of back to school shopping, as uniforms and supplies can become quite costly. However, there are some limits and exceptions that we should all be aware of.
