Kiwanian Steve Bates spoke to Kiwanis about the tax changes and effects of the Big Beautiful Bill. First he gave us a true/false quiz to see what we knew about taxes. He reminded us that if a notice does not come in the mail it is not from the IRS. He also said that there are 3 reasons for an audit-random, something out of kilter on your return, or if someone complains about you. Due to lack of IRS audit personnel there have not been very many audits in the past few years.
