Margaret S. Wesson, wife of the late Rev. Doyle Wesson, passed away on April 7, 2014. Survivors are her son, Phil &
wife Sharon Wesson of Mountain View, Arkansas; and her daughter, Wanda & her husband Fred Holland of Urbana,
Missouri. Funeral was held 10:00 a.m. April 11, 2014 at the Hermitage First Baptist Church. Interment followed in Bower Chapel under the direction of the Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home

Funeral services for Alden  Lane Garland were held Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Living Word Worship Center in
Minden, Louisiana. Officiating was Pastor Andy Maddox and Pastor Brian Montgomery. Interment followed at Old
Sparta Cemetery in Bienville, Louisiana under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana.
Alden was born July 13, 2010 in Shreveport, Louisiana, and entered into rest April 8, 2014 in Winnfield, Louisiana.
He is survived by his mother Bridgette Dauzat of Winnfield, daddy Jesse Dauzat of Winnfield, father Shannon Garland of
Keithville, grandparents Ron and Betty Hughes of Castor, Leslie and Lynn Dauzat, Sr. of Atlanta, Pamela Benzinger of Keithville, Eddie and Regina Randall of Boyce, brothers Lyndon Garland of Winnfield and Jared Garland of Keithville,
sisters Hannah and Hailey Dauzat of Ruston.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Thomas Leonard McCarty, Sr. were held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014,
in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Brother Allen Dick officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill
Cemetery, Pollock. Pallbearers honored to serve were Kemp Nelson, Peyton Nelson, Mike Bladel, Tim Bladel, Cody McDonald and Billy Slayter. Honorary pallbearers were Chad Gaspard and Cody Walker. Mr. McCarty, 76, of Montgomery, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at his residence. Thomas worked for Louisiana Industries as a Dredge Operator for many years and was a member of Victory Church and loved his church family, his pastor and his pastor’s wife. Tommy was an avid outdoorsman that loved to fish and hunt. His greatest love of all was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle that will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him.

Mrs. Winnie Simmons, 73 years of age, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at her residence in Winnfield, LA with her family by her side. She was born May 17, 1940 in Negreet, LA to the late Allen James Williams and the late Mary (Bass)
Williams. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Judy Davis of Winnfield, Brenda Bynog of Natchitoches, James Ray Sepulvado of Winnfield, Debra Vargas of  Natchitoches and Kenneth Allen Simmons of Campti. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Mr. Raymond “Rip” Vantroy Whittington, Sr., age 68 of Atlanta, La. Passed away April 10, 2014 at Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield. He was a native of Eudora Arkansas and was retired as a Major with the  Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. Mr. Whittington was a member of the Atlanta Baptist Church, a member of Eastern Star Lodge No. 151 F&AM., a volunteer firefighter with Winn  Parish Fire District 3 for close to 20 years and was former Police Chief of Atlanta. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was a radarman on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk. Mr. Whittington was the son of the  late Alva Lee Whittington, Sr. and the late Melba June Dozier Whittington.
