Winnfield Tigers Fall to #5 Bunkie Panthers

The Tigers played a nondistrict game when they traveled to Bunkie in a 2A matchup on Friday April 5 th . The Bunkie Panthers were ready for the Tigers with loud, supportive fans who wanted to see an upset of the #1 ranked Winnfield Tigers. The Tigers drew first blood as they scored one run in the top of the first but the lead was short lived as Bunkie answered with a run of their own tying the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first. Unfortunately that would be the only time the Tigers would have a lead in the game. The score remained tied 1-1 through the first three innings. However in the bottom of the fourth, Bunkie hit a homerun over the wall with a Panther on base making the score 1-3. The energy level was defiantly high as Bunkie went ahead on the scoreboard and the hometown crowd and players could smell an upset brewing. But the Tigers did not give up and they managed one more run in the top of the fifth.
