Pilgrim Reflections: “May We Never Forget

Woe to us if we do. This past week marked a highlight in my life as I pinned on the rank of full-bird colonel (0-6) as an Air Force  chaplain. Little did I realize  almost 35 years ago when I oined the military as a 1st  Lieutenant that this day wouldcome. But, the Lord opened  the door for this promotionand it’s definitely one I’ll not  take for granted.As I stood there during the ceremony looking out on fellowship airmen and soldiers— both active and retired—and a host of family and friends, my heart overflowed with joy and gratitude. And, it reminded  me again of the charge inGod’s Word: “To whom much is given, much is required” (Luke 12:48)

Glib 'Happy Talk

When Alfred E. Neuman said "What me worry?" on the cover of Mad magazine, it was funny. But this message was not nearly as funny coming from President Barack Obama and his National Security Advisor, Susan Rice. In a musical comedy, it would be hilarious to have the president send out his "happy talk" message by someone whose credibility was already thoroughly discredited by her serial lies on television about the Benghazi terrorist attack in 2012.

Depression: Make It Go Away! Part II

Depression can be a debilitating illness leaving those suffering from the illness in a hopeless and helpless position. The illness is treated with antidepressants and  counseling. In some cases the response rate to some antidepressants  is  ffective in only 1 in 3 cases, and 2 in 3 ever respond after repeated treatment. Depression affects nearly 17% of the general  opulation with an estimated cost as much as $83.1 billion for our economy. What are the common causes of depression?
