On April 27 the Winnfield Fire dDpartment hosted an open house and new truck dedication ceremony, commissioning thier new fire engine number 2 into service. Food and refreshments, popcorn, balloons and jump house for the kids along with fire prevention coloring books, free smoke detectors, and equipment and photograph display from the past were enjoyed by all who attended. The truck dedication ceremony included a speech from Fire Chief Montgomery and a prayer to dedicate the new vehicle into service as well as a wetting and pushing of the truck tradition. The children in attendace helped with the wetting of the fire truck. This has been a tradition in the fire service for over a century. Winn Parish Fire District 3 joined in the celebration. Councilman Matt Miller and Mark Treadway with the Louisiana state farm Marshal‘s office were also in attendance.
