The Winnfield Fire Department responded to a reported garbage truck on fire behind Dixie Mart on Hwy 167 on Friday, January 5. Engine 4 and Rescue 1 responded with 4 personnel. Once on scene fire fighters found the trash truck with heavy smoke and light fire at the front of the compactor area of the vehicle. Fire fighters donned PPE and deployed front bumper attack line for a rubbish fire in the truck. Fire fighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire with no damage to the truck. Fire fighters then made sure the fire was out. Two parish fire fighters from central also stopped to assist.
