Martha George Hall Hanson

Martha George Hall Hanson, 79, of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021 after fighting a valiant second battle against cancer.

She graduated from Winnfield High School in 1960, and she spent her early years working at South Central Bell in Winnfield. She then began working as a Bookkeeper for the family business, JT Hanson Timber Company, until the time she retired. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family, and her kind heart and her love of animals led her to dedicate much of her free time to taking care of her “fur babies”.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, J.T. Hanson of Winnfield, two daughters, Leah Hanson Carpenter of Winnfield and Alissa Hanson Hammons (Chip) of Alabama, one grandson, Jensen Hammons, whom she cherished dearly, one sister, Frances Hall Walker of Winnfield, and one brother, James Hall of Alabama, as well as several nieces and nephews and all her pets.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Verne Hall and Georgia Stubbs Hall, her brother-inlaw, Hewey Walker, and a son-in-law, Paul Carpenter.

Those honored to serve as Pall Bearers are: Chip Hammons, Jensen Hammons, David Hall, Mark Skains, David Caskey, Jason Hanson, Jeremy Moore, Darrell Finley.

The Honorary Pall Bearers are: Otis Magee, Gene Hanson, Roger Hanson, Troy Hanson, Curt Hanson, Rob Hanson, Ty Hanson, Roy Alexander, Edward Hanson, Jim Hanson.

Visitation hours will be held Monday, July 19, 2021 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield, Louisiana and will last from 5:00p.m. 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 20, 2021, in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel withReverend Craig James officiating. Interment will follow in the Sardis Cemetery in Atlanta, Louisiana under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers Martha would like donations made to the Heart of Louisiana Humane Society (under “Save our Shelter” tab you can donate), if possible let them know it is in her honor.
