A Chapel Service for George “Chappy” Elton Gunter will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at John Kramer & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Hines and Wayne Setliff, Jr. officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at the funeral home.

George “Chappy” Elton Gunter, 74, of Winnfield, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, at Autumn Leaves Nursing Facility.

George is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Maxine Strickland Gunter; first wife, Paulette Gunter; brother, Joseph Gunter; sister, Roxanne Gunter; and three infant brothers.

George was born in Lecompte, Louisiana on August 15, 1946. He graduated from Menard High School and attended Northwestern State University before entering the United States Air Force. He served during Vietnam and was a Crew Chief on B-52s SAC in Warren Robbins, Georgia. After moving back to Woodworth, Louisiana, George owned and operated Gunter’s Dirt Service until his retirement. George will be remembered as a man devoted to God and his family. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school to the youth at Family Church in Winnfield. When George was not working, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking. George enjoyed meeting people and always had a helping hand. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 26 years, Debra Boyett Gunter; daughter, Jennifer Gunter Bruce and husband, Gary; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Ford; grandson, Samuel Bruce; and one brother, Benny Gunter and wife, Dorothy. George is also survived by two nieces, Amanda Gunter Trammell and husband, Alan, and Lisa Gunter Aymond and husband, Mack; along with several extended family and friends.
