Winn Parish Superintendent Steve Bartlett announced his retirement at the Winn Parish School Board meeting on April 6.

Bartlett read his letter at the meeting and handed it to School Board President Todd Martin.

“I will be retiring from the Winn Parish School System effective June 30, 2021,” said. “I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity and pleasure to serve Winn Parish as district superintendent since July 2000. My tenure as an educator culminates with 47 years of continuous service. I’ve been blessed as a classroom teacher, ag teacher, assistant principal, principal, instructional supervisor, and 21 years as superintendent. I thank this Board for the privilege of working together harmoniously for the children of Winn Parish. I have shared often with my superintendent colleagues throughout Louisiana the positive relationships I have had with “my Board” and our having worked together to improve education services for children. Also, it has been my good fortune to work with a tremendously capable group of educators including teachers, principals, and supervisors, and a support staff second to none. I want to acknowledge the Winn Parish central office staff who have worked tirelessly and with great expertise and talent in my support. The central office staff hold tough jobs that require creative talents to find solutions that cannot be found in any textbook or manual. I respect each of these individuals and have enjoyed working with them on a daily basis.
