Janet Lou Burnett Harty

Janet Lou Burnett Harty, 83, peacefully passed on February 13, 2021 with family at her bedside. Janet was born in Iron River, Michigan on July 11, 1937 and was a longtime resident and business owner in Winnfield, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifton Harty, parents Perry and Dorothy Burnett, and sisters Everall Carne and Nancy Kelley.

She wed Clifton Harty in 1954 in Roseburg, Oregon and they were married for 58 years. Together they raised 5 daughters; Karen Matthews, Cindy Mosley (Mike), Karlina Smith, Gena Hatcher (Kevin), and Bridget Carter (Scott). She is survived by 10 grandchildren; Kendra Carter-Kahao (Kris), Joshua Whitehead (Jennifer), Cliff Hatcher (Sarah), Chelsea Milian (Kyle), Christopher Matthews, Kacie Smith (Chad), Shane Mosley, Amanda Hubbard (Micah), Candyce Ake (Amanda), and Paige Smith. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren; Adelyn and Carter Grace Kahao, Payton and Camden Whitehead, Benjamin Hatcher, Lane Charles and Perry Katherine Smith, Harper and Hallie Jo Hubbard, Reagan and Carson Milian.

She is also survived by siblings, Norman Burnett, Roger Burnett and Mary Burnett.

Janet enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She especially loved drinking coffee with her friends at McDonald’s. She also loved going out to eat and shopping locally. For 37 years, she kept her Thursday beauty shop appointment with Monica Lovell, who she considered a close friend.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

The family requested in lieu of flowers to please make memorials to First Baptist Church of Winnfield or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
