Tony Lamar White

Tony Lamar White passed away on September 29, 2020, at the age of sixty-four years old. Tony graduated Winnfield Senior High School and served as a fireman and maintenance foreman, using his innovation and remarkable work ethic both in his professional career and personal life. He eventually retired from Proctor and Gamble and enjoyed working outdoors and raising various animals. With his long white beard, Tony often caught the attention of Santa enthusiasts, and a twinkle appeared in his eyes in the presence of children. He boldly supported breast cancer awareness month by dying his white beard pink for the month of October. He was eager in sharing his love of animals and the outdoors with his grandchildren. Tony lived a life of service and never shied away from a task. He changed babies’ diapers, cared for elderly, rendered aide to family, friends, and complete strangers. Car passengers were often surprised with unexpected stops due to his determination to help others. Whether pulling residents from a burning house or stopping to transport stranded motorists, he was always willing to lend a hand. Tony believed in hard work and strived to teach his children integrity and independence. Tony left behind a legacy that he could never have imagined.

He is preceded in death by infant child, Nicholas White; parents Sonny and Bobbie White; and in-laws Virgil and Ruby Tharpe; brothers-in-law, Allen Tharpe and Larry Baker; nephew, Jeremy White. Tony is survived by his wife of 46 years, Teresa Tharpe White; children, Anthony White, Amanda Dean (husband Robbie Dean); daughter Heather Zimmerman (husband Brent Zimmerman), son in-law Steven Joe; brothers, Jimmy White (wife Karen White), Bobby White (wife Kathy wife), and Ricky White (wife Jennifer White); sister-in-law, Marilyn Baker; grandchildren, Kristin LeBaron, Caston Zimmerman, Brody White, Colton Joe, and Remington Joe; and multiple nieces and nephews.
