Winnfield FFA Teams Compete in State Events

The Winnfield FFA Livestock and Poultry teams competed in the State FFA Career Development Events. The competitions were held virtually due to COVID-19 on September 18, 2020 and September 25, 2020.

The Livestock Judging Career Development Event provides aspiring, young agricultural education students with the opportunity to make accurate observations on livestock, determine the desirable traits in animals, make logical decisions based on their observations, and discuss and defend those decisions. Participants place classes of breeding and market beef, sheep, and swine. They then give oral reasons to the judges as to why they placed each class as they did. Blue (senior) Team members include Emma Vines, Jacob Womack, and Madison Green. This team achieved 3rd in Area 2.

The Poultry Evaluation CDE is a competitive event that tests students’ abilities to select top quality poultry and poultry products needed for successful production and marketing.
