Judge Derr and Police Jury reach settlement

Judge Jacque Derr, of the Eigth Judicial Court, who sued the Winn Parish Police Jury reached a settlement of $30,201.57

The lawsuit of Judge Jacque Derr, of the Eighth Judicial District Court, against the Winn Parish Police Jury reached its verdict on Sept. 24, as Judge John Crigler ordered that the police jury must pay the Eighth Judicial District Court a sum of $30,201.57 in three equal installments for the remainder of 2020.

The Winn Parish Police Jury must amend their budget to cover these expenses.

Judge Crigler also ordered that the Police Jury pay the attorney fees and expenses on behalf of Judge Derr, which is a sum of $10,000.
