Mrs. Mamie Lucille Hooks Herring, age 92 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020.

Born Saturday, June 16, 1928 in Halley, Arkansas, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield where she was a member of the Lamplighters Sunday School Class and Women’s Missionary Union. She was retired as owner/operator of The Flower Box of Winnfield and was the first female member of the Chamber of Commerce and was presented the president’s award for the Outstanding Director of the Winn Parish Chamber of Commerce in 1980..

Mrs. Herring was preceded in death by her parents, Archie Phillip Hooks and Bessie Fox Hooks; husband, Cravon Herring; siblings, Thelma Mabray, Bessie Babb, Oleta Smith and Billy Hooks.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Marsha Allen (Doug) and Sheila Price (Jimmy); five grandchildren, Rebecca Tate (Jeremy), Whitney Price (Misty), Matthew Allen (Jennifer), Mackenzie Price (Cruz) and Peter Allen (Sarah); and ten greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at First Baptist Church with Reverends John Holland, Peter Allen and Doug Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories, in Winnfield under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of services.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Matthew Allen, Peter Allen, Jeremy Tate, Kiah Beville, Lamar Tarver, Don Causey and Whitney Price as Honorary.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to the staff of Autumn Leaves Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center and Legacy Hospice for their excellent care during her time as a resident.

Mrs. Herrings family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Winnfield.
