From the youngsters to the young-at-heart, Winn Parish saw two very special parades on Friday, May 15, 2020, symbolizing the beauty and celebration that come with the sunrises and sunsets of life.

To start, residents from Winn Parish nursing homes (Autumn Leaves Nursing and Rehabilitation Center pictured) sat outside while holding balloons, flags, and signs, waving to passersby during a mid-morning parade. First responders such as firefighters and law enforcement officers led the parade, followed by loved ones riding inside their decorated vehicles. Signs declared messages like “Happy Birthday, Mamaw” (top center), “You are loved” (top left), and “Mawmaw Jameson, we love you!” (top right). Vehicles honked their horns while nursing home residents waved and smiled, enjoying both the warmth of the sunshine and the love of family.
