Joseph Clayton Fletcher

Mr. Joseph Clayton Fletcher, age 72 of Montgomery, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019.

Born Tuesday, December 24, 1946 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Betty Cupp Fletcher; brothers, James Fletcher and Ronnie Fletcher; sisters-in-law, Earlene Fredieu and Martha Fletcher; brothersin-law, Floyd Fredieu and Alan Coolman.

Mr. Fletcher was a retired heavy equipment operator with 40 years of service. When he wasn’t working, he loved gardening, taking care of his chickens and ducks. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved his church family and going to church while spreading the word of God and singing praises.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Evelyene Roe Fletcher of 49 years; sons, Steve Fletcher (Dana), Billy Joe Flectcher and James Fletcher (Stephanie); brother, Robert Fletcher (Theresa); sister, Bobbie Davis (Tommy); seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother-inlaw, Roy Roe (Eltima); sisters-in-law, Betty Coolman, Hazel Sibley (Danny), Billie Jean Roe and Gabriele Harbich; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Union Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Matlock and Rev. George Holland officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Wheeling.

The family received friends at the church on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of services.

Serving the family as pallbearers were Adam Fletcher, Cody Robertson, Curtis Carver, Chad McLaughlin, Dustin McQuillin, Berry Howard and Michael Byrd. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Myers and Roy Roe.
