There’s a new tradition in Winn Parish: the Dugdemona Classic! The rivalry between Calvin and Dodson has gained traction. The Dugdemona River separates the two schools, hence the name of the competition. This tradition states that whichever of the two teams wins their first season game against each other will be awarded a special plaque to hang in their gym. The losing team will get the chance to steal it back the next school year.

The 1 st Annual Dugdemona Classic took place on Tuesday, November 5, at Calvin. To encourage community support, CHS Girls Assistant Coach Lauren Emmons declared, “It’s panther hunting season, so come decked out in your CAMO!” Calvin Lady Cougars ended up triumphing over the Dodson Lady Panthers with the final score of 62-38, and Calvin Cougars pulled off a tense and hardearned overtime victory over Dodson Panthers with a final score of 82-80.
