This year’s Veterans Day Program, hosted by the Sheriff’s Office, had perhaps the biggest attendance to date! Almost 90 people were in attendance, 64 of which were veterans.

The speaker, Dr. Bill Robertson, delivered a moving speech recapping the intriguing life of World War II veteran Louis Zamperini. After introducing Zamperini’s unlikely start, Robertson discussed the pain, hardships, and inner conflict all soldiers wrestle with. However, he highlighted Zamperini’s startling conversion at one of Billy Graham’s crusades. Robertson concluded his message by reminding the veterans that the ability to extend mercy to others is a gift that has been given to them so that it can be shared.
