Winn Parish Schools awarded $400,000 in DOJ funding

Program funds used to provide safer school environments

Winn Parish is one of two school systems in Louisiana to receive federal funding for programs to prevent school violence.

The Winn Parish School Board will receive $150,000 under Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) STOP School Violence Technology and Threat Assessment Solutions for Safer Schools Program.

Only two other agencies in the state received monies from the $85.3 million funding plan. Under BJA’s STOP School Violence Prevention and Mental Health Training Program, Caddo Parish School Board received $250,000. The Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement received an additional $500,000.
