Mr. James William Parker, age 79 of Sikes, Louisiana, passed away July 1, 2019 at the Alexandria Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pineville, Louisiana.

Mr. Parker was a native of Rodessa, Louisiana and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was also a member of Charles F. Buck Lodge No. 260, Free & Accepted Masons in Urania.

Mr. Parker, after graduation from Louisiana Tech University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, went to work for the City of Alexandria in 1972 in the distribution department as an electrical engineer. In January of 1975 James and his wife went to ARAMCO in Dhrahan, Saudia Arabia where his employement took him to various projects in other countries. He and his wife, after traveling for work decided that there was no place like the U.S.A. In August 1980 he went to work for Campbell Soup in Paris, Texas

In May of 1983 he went to work for Libby-Owens-Ford Glass Plant in Sherman, Texas where he worked until retirement in January of 1996

In April 1997 they moved to Longview Texas and later to Sikes, Louisiana in January of 2015. He lived his last three years doing what he enjoyed: daily walks in the woods with his dog “Baby” He always had a great appreciation for natures beauty.

Mr. Parker was the son of the late James Gaddy Parker and the late Mary Catherine McCann Parker. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 52 years Dorothy Hatten Parker. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Janssen of Blanchard, Louisiana as well as two nieces Janet Nalley, and Karen Bowden, and seven great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Charles Stephens officiating. Interment followed in the Hebron Cemetery near Sikes with Military Honors.

Pallbearers were Gary Parker, Mitch Parker, Dana Rachal, Jeremy Edwards, Josh Day, and Jerry Erskins.
