Winnfield Tiger Baseball Moves on to Quarterfinals

The Winnfield Tigers Baseball Team got off to a great start in the first round of the State baseball playoffs when they hosted Franklin High School on Monday April 22. The Tigers played in front of a full crowd of baseball fans and the boys did not disappoint. The Winnfield club jumped out to a four runlead after the first inning and never looked back.The Tigers bats got hot and the boys scored eight more runs in the bottom of the second to add to the lead. The #1seeded Tigers took care of business against the #32 ranked visitors and moved on to Regional,winning 16-0 in 5 innings. The Tigers are 22-5 overall and move one small step closer to Sulphur. The boys appreciate all the support they have been receiving from the community. If you haven't made a game come on out and support the team throughout the playoffs and help the boys reach their dream of playing in the final four in Sulphur.

The Winnfield Tigers played in the Regional on Friday April 26 with a packed house where they welcomed #17 ranked Delcambre for the best of three. The Tigers got off with a bang totally six runs in the bottom of the first. Fa ntastic pitching kept the visitors off balance keeping them from getting any offense going and keeping them off the scoreboard. Winnfield added another run in the bottom of the third and tacked seven more runs in the bottom of the fourth.Tigers win first Regiona l playoff game 14-0 in five innings. Boys improve record 23-5 and 2-0 in playoffs.
