Nearly 5,000 residents in the City of Winnfield and surrounding areas will soon receive cleaner, safer drinking water, thanks to a new $800,000 water storage tank and system upgrades that are being installed by the City of Winnfield’s Water System.

The new tank and site piping will replace an old, outdated ground tank system that had developed several leaks over the years, compromising the quality of drinking water for local customers.

“The existing ground storage tank had been cited as being out of compliance with the state’s sanitary code for some time. It was necessary for the city to make improvements and the state’s Drinking Water Revolving Loan Fund Program gave us an affordable means to pay for those improvements,” City of Winnfield Mayor George Moss said.
