City of Winnfield Recreation Board recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, December 7, to announce and celebrate the completion of its phase I renovations to the Grove Street Gym (Rec Center) as well as playgrounds at Grove Street, Henderson Holden, and T&G parks in an effort to bring together our citizens for a healthier community. The project is funded in part by a Healthy Behaviors Program Grant from The Rapides Foundation.

The board later hosted a family day in conjunction with basketball tryouts. Everyone was provided a sac lunch to take with them upon departure. We encourage our citizens to enjoy family time in the park, playing on the new equipment. “While we aren’t finished with updates, this gives us a great start,” states Shannan Chevallier, City of Winnfield Vice Chairman, serving as a parish seat on the board.
