Paul Green, age 90 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018. Born Sunday, August 21, 1927 in Dodson, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, James Monroe and Minnie Barnes Green; sisters, Louisa Anderson, Linnie Bullock, Edna Calhoun, and Pauline Durbin; and brothers, Herman and J.M. Green. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Dodson, La. Mr. Green served his country in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. After his graduation from Dodson High School in 1945, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy and trained to be a Navy Seal. He was once again called to serve his country in Korea in the U.S. Army. During his service, Mr. Green was injured and was awarded the Purple Heart. He also received the Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Stars. A proud veteran, Mr. Green continued service to his country through the Disabled Veterans Organization. He also served his community as Constable in Ward 4 for many years. Hunting and gardening were both passions of Paul. He enjoyed sharing his harvest and stories of his hunting conquests with friends and neighbors. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years, Betty Durbin Green of Dodson; sons, Thomas Elton Green (Janet) of Houston, Texas and Danny Paul Green (Cindy) of Dodson; grand- children, Justin, Chad, Eric, Danny, and Jeremy Green; and great- grandchildren, Mackenzie, Nicholas, Brendan, and Lucy. The family received friends on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Southern Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and again on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Southern Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until time of services. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Arthur Robinson and Rev. Teddy Sharbono officiating. Interment followed in Cypress Creek Cemetery, in Dodson with full military honors.
