House Fire Takes Family’s Home of 25 Years

Tuesday, May 8th, the Winnfield City Fire Dept. received a call around 2:30am for a working house fire. It was said to be 40- 50% involved when the City Fire Dept. arrived on scene. The WPFD#3 was also on the scene. The residents’ neighbor’s made the call to 911 Emergency, when the residents of the household notified them. The family that lived at 128 Ridge Avenue resided there for over 25 years. Thankfully there ware no injuries to the occupants or the firefighters on scene. The occupants have contacted American Red Cross for relief and assistance. To the officials knowledge there were no working smoke detectors in the house. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
