Winnfield Tigers Fall in Quarterfinals

The #6 seeded Winnfield Tiger Baseball team were defeated by the #3 Welsh Greyhounds in the Quarterfinals of the State Baseball Tournament this past Thursday and Saturday. It is not the Cinderella ending the boys were hoping for, but everything that could go wrong for the Tigers did. Unfortunately that is the game of baseball, and it just wasn’t their weekend. The Winnfield Baseball team had a great season despite their elimination in the third round. Capturing the 2-3A District Championship, 8-1 record districts and finishing with an overall record of 22-13. All good things come to an end, but it is just the beginning for all these boys. On the long drive home Saturday evening from Welsh, there stood a church sign that read,

 

“Time changes but God remains the same”. This a good reminder when everyone feels disappointed at this time, with the fall of defeat to close the season, remember through the tears, disappointment, and heartache, God remains the same even when time changes. In this time, the Winnfield Tigers played with class and showed sportsmanship, not only in defeat, but also in victory during their long season.
