Kisatchie House Of Hope Holding Informational Banquet, Thursday

A group of local volunteers noticed a while back that Winnfield and our parish was developing a problem with homelessness. Most people hear the term and think of someone living under an overpass, or in an alleyway. That isn’t always the case. Many homeless individuals fear being identified as homeless for different reasons, so they hide. There have been homeless people living in the woods on the edge of town. Homeless individuals have spent nights in the waiting room of the hospital, just to stay out of the rain. And, yes – they have been found wandering the streets, because they had no place to go. Some have even committed non-violent crimes when weather is unbearable, so that they have a warm bed to sleep in – in the city jail. It is important to know that there are even entire families who are homeless.
