Mineola “Missy” Oglesby

Mrs. Mineola “Missy” Oglesby, age 78 of Verda, Louisiana was born Friday, December 22, 1939 in Verda, Louisiana and passed from this life on Monday, February 19, 2018. Missy attended Verda School. After graduation she attended Northwestern State University where she obtained a two year Secretarial Science degree. She worked for United Gas in Shreveport, Lousiana for a while until she married. She was a homemaker and she raised three children. She was preceded in death by her father, James Bailey Johnson, mother, Ruth Johnson, husband, Don Oglesby, great grandchild, Landon Lane McConathy-Parks, and brother, Charles Johnson. Those left to cherish her memory are Don Oglesby, Jr. and wife Judy, Dena Oglesby Zavala and husband Rene’, Dion Oglesby and wife Wanda, all of Verda; grandchildren, Kayla Raines, Hannah Carter (Greg), Ethan Oglesby, Miguel Zavala (Yvette); step-grandchildren, Mark McConathy, Haylee Smith (Jake), Katherine Holloway (Mikel), Kimberly Liner (David), Kristal Thomasee (Steve); great grandchildren, Logan and Cara Carter, Josie Raines, Maci and Paisley Oglesby; step great grandchildren, Hope and Gavin McConathy, Gloria Cloud, Izzy, Gracie, and Ann Marie Smith, Mason Holloway, and Emily Thomasee; special “granddaughters”, Sherry Graves and Alysa McLaughlin; sisters, Nona Dubois, Martha Hines; brothers, Lawrence Johnson, James Reid Johnson, and Johnny Johnson. Graveside services for Mrs. Oglesby were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 22, 2018 at the Verda Cemetery with Bro. Scott Tilton officiating. Serving the family as pallbearers were Ethan Oglesby, Miguel Zavala, Rene Zavala, Greg Carter, Mark McConathy, and Ray Crooks. Charles Pollard and E.H. Lashley served as honorary pallbearers.
