JC Mixon

JC Mixon, age 91, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2017. Mr. Mixon was born on March 7, 1926 to Claude and Jewell Mixon and raised in Winnfield, Louisiana as the second of seven children. After serving in the United States Army Air Forces at the end of World War II, Mr. Mixon graduated from Louisiana Tech University. Mr. Mixon enjoyed an adventurous career as an electrical engineer, moving his young family to South America for his work in a refinery, then traveling the globe as an offshore construction project manager with McDermott International. He loved hunting, fishing, golf, gardening, boiling crawfish, and crossword puzzles. He tended tomato plants and flowerbeds in his yard until he was nearly 90, and took great pride in his satsuma trees. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, the world champion at bouncing babies on his knee until they laughed out loud. Mr. Mixon lost his cherished wife, Elizabeth Salvaggio Mixon, earlier this year. Mr. Mixon is survived by his four children, Richard, Martha, Claude, and Virginia; his daughters-in-law, Donna and Judy, and his son-in-law, Eric; his seven grandchildren, Karin, Clifton, Nelson, Steven, Elin, Aidan and Thomas; his brother Troy and sisters Patsy and Sheryl; and many other relatives and friends. He was well loved and he loved well. A funeral service was held on Saturday January 6, 2018 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ozanam Inn or the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
