Gloria Roberts Lasyone

Mrs. Gloria Roberts Lasyone, 91, of Verda, Louisiana, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, November 1, 2017. The family had a celebration of life on Friday, November 3, 2017, at Iatt Baptist Church in Verda at 11:00 am. Officiating was Brother Dick DeBusk and Brother Terry Smith. Interment was in Iatt Cemetary in Verda under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Gloria was born in Joyce, Louisiana on May 23, 1926, to Tom and Leona Roberts. She was a graduate of Verda High School. She married the love of her life, Elwood Lasyone, on December 15, 1943. Mrs. Lasyone was a homemaker and enjoyed working on their family farm. She was a faithful member of Iatt Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a godly, Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A prayer warrior and pillar of the community, she impacted many lives during her 91 years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Elwood Lasyone, and their infant son; her parents, Tom and Leona Roberts; her brothers, Arvel Roberts, Lynval Roberts, James Roberts, her sisters, Thelma Roberts, Rachel Roberts, Melba Roberts and Willa Dean Roberts. Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Sherron Lasyone Brown of Baton Rouge; Ronnie Lasyone and wife, Barbara, of Verda; Arlene Lasyone Brewton of Baton Rouge and Donnie Lasyone and wife, Daisy, of Verda. Her grandchildren are Russ Brinkley (Julie), Jeff Lasyone (Mandy), Rex Lasyone (Ashley), Lisa Lasyone DeLong (Richard), Suzette Ferguson Fatula (Mike), Valerie Ferguson Mullinax (Jonathon), Cody Lasyone (Susie), Farrah Lasyone, Edwards (Michael), Rebecca Brewton Lane (Scott) and Jeff Brewton (Rachel). Her great-grandchildren are Ashton Brinkley, Cade Brinkley, Lathan, Latney and Lawson Lasyone, Kaylie, Kolby and Kayson Lasyone, Strattan James, Ann Marie and Gracie Smith, Tyler Ferguson, Blake Fatula, Taylor Lasyone, Rogan, Gavin and Harper Edwards, Sara, Cooper and Emma Lane, Josh and AJ Brewton. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the loving care Mrs. Lasyone received while at Autumn Leaves Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winnfield. Memorials may be made to Iatt Baptist Church 383 Iatt Church Road Atlanta, La 71404. Pallbearers were Jeff Lasyone, Russ Brinkley, Rex Lasyone, Cody Lasyone, Tyler Ferguson and Lathan Lasyone.
