Tigers Coming Off Disappointing Losses, Looking For A Win Against J-Hodge Tigers

The Tigers of Winnfield Senior High School are recovering from two disappointing losses to teams who were described by Tiger Coach Bankston as being “established programs and playoff teams.” On the Friday leading into Labor Day Weekend the Giants from Jena came to Stokes-Walker Stadium and left with a 46 – 13 win. Then this past Friday night, the Tigers from St. Mary’s in Natchitoches left Winnfield with a 62 – 34 win.

Coach Bankston said that the Tigers may have two losses for the season, “but good teams have a way of rebounding. Everything being done is being done for a more positive outcome in the future.” He added that although the Tigers have some inexperienced players, “the positive side of this is that the more our inexperienced players get to play, the better they get.” Coach Bankston also stressed that every player played extremely hard, saying, “they may not have been in the right spot, but they gave 100%.”

When I spoke with him about the upcoming game against the Tigers from Jonesboro-Hodge, Coach Bankston said, “They have a very talented group of kids. We expect another test this week. We are trying to establish a culture that is process driven instead of result oriented. We have got to create a game plan this week and coach our guys up to go through the process and win.”
