James Kirby Malloy

Mr. James Kirby Malloy, age 89 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Born September 20, 1927 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He and his wife owned and operated the Sears Catalog Store of Winnfield for 13 years and The Youth Shop for 40 years. He enjoyed gardening and reading and his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Mr. Malloy was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Abrams Malloy; parents, James and Ola Alice Riley Malloy; siblings, Virginia Busby, J.E. Malloy and Inez Lucas. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Aleta Hoffman (Frank) of Dodson; son, Kevin Malloy (Peggy) of Wilson, NC; grandchildren, McKae Booth (Jared), Jason Turner (Misty), Royce Malloy (Katie) and Sassy Malloy; great-grandchildren, Felix, Rowan, Chase, Olive, Alice and Hazel; brother-in-law, Austin Abrams (Vera); numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Norris Curry and Pres. Justin Hardy officiating. Interment followed in Hurricane Grove Cemetery, in Sikes. Serving the family as pallbearers were Jason Turner, Royce Malloy, Mike Womack, Rick Malloy, Doug Lawrence and Ben Lawrence.
