Southern Funeral Home Acquires Edmonds in Jonesboro

On Wednesday, May 10, 2017 Velma Thompson, Kimble Thompson, Jerry Price, Bryan Price, and Patrick Price gathered in Jonesboro for Southern Funeral Home to purchase Edmonds Funeral Home.

Both Edmonds and Southern have served Jackson Parish and the surrounding communities since 1921. The Thompson family purchased Edmonds Funeral Home from Mrs. Flossie Edmonds in 1976, and have served the community since that time. Mr. Lee Thompson assumed the leadership role and became a fixture and asset in the community. He was joined by his son, David Thompson in 1978. Lee and David cared for families in all the communities of Jackson and Winn Parishes, as well as, the surrounding parishes until the death of Lee. At that time David and his wife Velma carried on the traditions established by the Edmonds family and his father until his untimely death in 2011. David and Velma’s son, Kimble joined the business in 2011 and continues there today as the third generation Thompson to serve the community.
