Walmart Generosity Plus Rotary Dedication

One of the many axioms used in today’s vernacular is the phrase “It takes a village to raise a child.” That attitude is particularly evident in the partnership between Wal-Mart and the Winnfield Rotary Club. Through the philanthropy of the international Wal-Mart chain, generous check of $1500 was presented to Rotary President Jennifer Vidrine by local Store Assistant Manager Roy Mercer.

This grant money from Wal-Mart has allowed the Rotarians to work tirelessly to help provide for school uniforms for local students in need, to distribute a personal copy of a Dictionary for all 3rd graders, to sponsor leadership training for high school students at Camp RYLA, and to enable educational assistance for students with dyslexia.

Both Wal-Mart, an integral part of the Winnfield community, and Rotary, a long time dedicated international organization, have maintained this partnership over the years to provide help for Winn Parish families in need. Our parish has benefitted exponentially from the generosity of Rotary members who live the motto “Service Above Self.”
