Whether in the major leagues or sandlot baseball, there is one admonition coaches insist players follow. When the hitter connects with the ball and an infielder scoops it up for what should be an easy out, the hitter could find himself riding the pine if he fails to do as he’s been taught. “Run it out”, is elementary instruction. Although highly unlikely, the throw to first base could be off the mark and the runner safe if he keeps running.

After hearing a report of a cougar image captured on a trail camera in north Louisiana recently, I asked my Face Book friends to report any cougar sightings they may have had. After hearing from several, I wrote a column earlier this month.

One of those responding was my friend, Cliff Shelby, who told about a cougar sighting he had while camping with friends years ago north of West Monroe.
